| Bird life in Galway. Every time I go to Ireland I always see a heron, somewhere unusual, such as on the battlements of Cahir Castle last time I was over. This time was no exception. Down by where the canal meets the river, hundreds of swans were beginning to congregate along with a fair few locals with scraps of bread to feed them. I like the photo of the Jackdaws, ready to take to the water on the bottom left. The next day we sped off to Sligo and Leitrim to spend some time with more of the in-laws and we flew back to Manchester on the third.. |
| We flew between Manchester and Knock with British Airways. The hostel we stayed in , in Galway City was the Barnacle Hostel which was fairly basic, but provide en-suite double rooms and is nicely situated in the centre of things. Fast and efficient transport round the west of Ireland was provided by a cousin-in-law and Bus Eireann. |
