Well it's the boring blokey photo to kick off, but it is the actual plane that ferried us between Manchester and Knock airports (G-MANC). There's something scary about prop driven aircraft and the grinding noises they make when they take off that make me grip the arm rests - and I love flying!! - though maybe it was the fault with the aircraft, that forced our pilot to return to Manchester and swap to this plane. Thanks to Airliners.net for the pic. We thought we'd do something different for the new year, so we decided to head off to the west of Ireland for a few days. We arrived on the 30th and stayed in a youth hostel in Galway for three nights, followed by a night in County Sligo with the in-laws. A friend of ours lives in Galway, so on New Year's Eve she took us walking out on The Burren, which is in County Clare, the other side of Galway Bay from Galway City. The Burren is famous for it's limestone landscape and the rare plants and flowers that spring up here every summer. |
