We made sure we immersed ourselves in some culture during our brief stay and we thoroughly recommend the Hamburger Bahnhof Gallerie as well as a gallery devoted to Picasso and Klee (the name of which escapes me). The Neue National Gallerie and the Guggenheim were both closed, unfortunately, but as you can see from the top photo, we managed to visit the Bauhaus Archive. This is housed in quite a groovy looking building and the exhibition, though small, was inspiring and very absorbing. It has to be said - the Archive is worth a visit for the shop alone. Neither of us smoke, but there were some cool ashtrays for sale. We also wanted to buy the poster on the left in the photo, but it was for a forthcoming exhibition and there weren't any for sale (I keep checking the Bauhaus website, and it still isn't for sale).
