If, like me, you're a fan of the Wim Wenders film "Wings Of Desire", you will be familiar with the Sieges Saule which is situated in the middle of a huge roundabout on the 200 bus route (best bus route for sight-seeing in the city). It's in the middle of the Tiergarten and marks the end of the boulevard that eventually becomes Unter Den Linden.
The other photo is a postcard of the Neue Synagogue - scene of Krystallnacht. They had an interesting and positive exhibition of Jewish life in Berlin when we visited. The reason we didn't take a photo ourselves was that there was a big green police tank parked outside due to the recent flare-up of troubles in Israel. This depressed us somewhat. |
