About Ship: The Gorn's violent first contact with the Federation has been a significant factor in the shaping of its fleet from that time forward. With such a powerful potential foe so close to Gorn territory, they felt it necessary to ensure their space could never again be violated without advance warning. Design work on the Quetzocoatl (real name unknown) began in 2267, but continued for over twenty years before Gorn technology was adequate to produce it.

The Quetzocoatl was designed to perform as a distant early warning sensors platform. It is designed to patrol the edges of Gorn space, providing advance warning of an attacking fleet. In this task it excels, however, skilled captains have discovered that it's sensors can be spoofed by [CLASSIFIED TEXT DELETED].

Quetzocoatl construction is of duranium subframe with armor plate overlay, including the Gorn version of the multifunction phased array. SAPINT sources indicate that the Quetzocoatl is unarmed, and therefore must rely upon its speed and the intervention of friendly vessels for defense.

Quetzocoatls have been patrolling the Gorn/Federation border since 2289. The majority of the above information has been gathered by long-ranged scans and SAPINT resources. The above performance parameters are estimates of its as-commissioned abilities. Continued performace upgrades may have improved the Quetzocoatl's performance considerably in the 100+ years it has been in service.
