About Ship: The LST (named after a mid-20th century Earth Navy landing craft, the Landing Ship, Tank) is a multipurpose personnel and cargo shuttle introduced to Klingon service over 100 years ago. The LST, like most Klingon vessels, is armed, though the permanently-mounted type 3 disruptors are an insignificant threat except to another shuttle or unprotected personnel.

The LST appears to be optimized for landing troops. The firing ports allow the passengers to provide some of their own covering fire during insertion to a hostile landing zone, and the double-doors on either side are wide enough to offload two single columns of troops simultaneously. The seating arrangements may be configured in a variety of ways, or the rows behind the pilot's position may be removed altogether, for cargo duty.

The LST was the first Klingon shuttle known to utilize subspace distortion field generators (SFDGs), a technology acquired from the Romulans during the period of reduced tension about 100 years ago. The SFDGs permit much higher sublight accelerations than normal, resulting in higher attainable velocity with reduced time dilation effects.

The LST is still in production, with countless thousands still in service. The LST has been such a useful design, that the Klingons use the same hull (stretched 3-6 meters) for their runabouts.
