"Well I’m going to go grab some coffee, anyone want anything." Billy asked.
"Coke."
"Diet Coke."
"Mars Bar."
"Coke, Diet Coke, and a Mars Bar for the lady in the cast! Gotcha." He walked out of the room. On his way down the hall he bumped in to Crystal’s mom. "Hello! I’m on a food run."
"You’re the one that plays Pippin aren’t you?" Crystal’s mom asked.
"Yes, Pippin at your service." Billy bowed.
"You're Crystal’s favorite hobbit." Crystal’s mom told him as she walked with him to get the refreshments.
"Am I?" Billy said looking mischievous.
When Billy got to the room he looked at Elijah and said, "You're not the hottest hobbit anymore. Crystal likes Pippin best." Crystal turned beet red and tried to look very interested in what Dom wrote on her cast.
"I know; I’ve heard." Elijah replied.
"Hey, Crystal. Let me sign your cast as Pippin." Billy said. He batted his eyes at her in mock flirtyness.
"All right. Sure I would love that." Crystal said as she blushed.
"Hey that’s not fair. Then I get to sign it as Frodo." Elijah didn’t like that Billy was flirting with her. He knew Billy had a girlfriend, and he was just teasing but Elijah didn’t want him to get Crystal’s hopes up.
Billy signed her cast again this time it said, ‘To Crystal. I’m glad Elwood hit you and not me, cuz then I wouldn't be your FAVORITE anymore. Love Pippin."
Elijah took the marker from Billy and started writing, ‘Pippin may be your favorite but I’m the bravest. Give me a call when you get out of the hospital, dinner my treat. Frodo. 555-5698.’
"NO FAIR!" Billy yelped. He took the marker back and wrote, ‘Call me if you need anything 555-8579’
Elijah looked at Billy, "why don't you take Dom and Orlando to the cafeteria, you know how Dom loves that food."
"But, Lij, I just brought stuff back," Billy said while Elijah looked at Dom and made a "help me please look." Elijah wanted to apologize to Crystal but he didn’t want the guy’s around making jokes. Sure he loved them like brothers but sometimes they made a mess of things.
"Right, Billy, Orlando, cmon, I've got a craving for, uh, fish." Dom said, he turned to Janna and winked, "Why don't you come with us, lovely"
Janna looked at Dom and sighed, "No, thanks I have to use the ladies room, but I'll come find you after that." Dom gave a yell of triumph.
Crystal didn't want them to leave, "You guys can bring it back here."
"No, we'll come back later, I need to stretch my legs." Janna said.
"Alright, bye." Crystal said.
After they left Elijah sighed and sat in a chair by her bed. "How’s your head feel?" Crystal asked.
"It’s fine. It only hurts when I blink." He teased. He got quiet for a moment and then looked at her, "You know I’m very sorry I hit you. I want you to know, if you need anything, ever just call me ok? I gave you my home number on the cast. Here," He scribbled done a number on some paper, "is my cell number. If I don’t answer at home, don’t leave a message just call the cell."
"Really? Wow, I didn’t expect a big star to be so nice to me." Crystal teased and smiled at him.
"I’m not a big star. I’m just me, just Lijah." He told her.
"Lijah?" Crystal asked.
"Yeah?" Elijah looked at her and smiled.
"Would you mind fluffing my pillows." Crystal broke in to a grin and Elijah groaned. He reached over and fluffed the pillows behind her. He looked down at her face and noticed how pretty her eyes were. He leaned closer and Crystal shut her eyes. The door banged open and Billy ran in.
"Sorry, mate I forgot my cell…Whoops!" He backed out and Elijah’s eyes flew opened and he realized what he was about to do.
"Crystal, I’m sorry, I don’t, I didn’t, I have to go. Call if you need me." Elijah grabbed his stuff and ran out of the room.
Crystal just watched as he ran out of the room. They were just caught in the moment it happens right? Just then Billy knocked and she said, "Come in."
"He left didn’t he? I’m sorry about that, I didn’t know you two were…Well whatever you two are." Billy shrugged.
"It’s ok. I didn’t know either." Crystal said, "Where’s everyone else?"
"Outside. I told them to wait while I talked to you. I didn’t tell them anything." Billy said.
"Well, thanks, there’s nothing to tell them." Crystal said. Billy knew otherwise.
"I may be your favorite hobbit, but I have a feeling Elijah’s your favorite human." Billy winked and let her friends inside.
Meanwhile in the parking lot Elijah lit a cigarette. The doctors told him not to smoke for a couple of days but what the fuck right? He inhaled so deep that the smoke burned his lungs and his head spun. ‘Slow down.’ He told himself.
Up in Crystal’s room things were a bit more exciting. The boys stayed for another hour, Billy excused himself and called Elijah, who wasn’t answering either his home phone or his cell phone. The boys decided to leave after that because Crystal had just gotten a dose of pain medication and was looking sleepy.
"Bye." Dom said to Crystal, "Hey Janna call me."
"Dom, I don’t have your number." Janna rolled her eyes.
"That’s right well, give me your hand." Dom held out his hand. Janna did the same and Dom scribbled a number on there and kissed the other side of her hand. "I’ll be waiting."
"Bye, Crystal!" Orlando left with Dom.
"That leaves me." Billy said, "Call me if you need anything. I mean it." With that he left.
"Wow, Janna, Dom likes you." Crystal exclaimed after they had left.
"Yeah I know, yay for me." Janna tried to sound bored.
"I see right through you. You love it. Who thought they would be so nice?" Crystal said.
"Right, I do love it. Elijah is really nice and Dom’s eyes. Wow." Janna talked more but Crystal had fallen asleep.
