Crystal woke up several hours later to a dark room. Her mom was snoring loudly in two chairs that were pushed together. There was a note from Janna explaining that she had to leave while Crystal slept and that she would be back in the morning.
"Mom." Crystal said. Her mom stirred and woke up.
"Hello sleepy head, how are you." She asked.
"I have to pee. You should go home."
"Do you want me to help?" Her mom asked.
"No I�ll get the nurse in a minute. Just go home and rest. I�ll call if I need anything."
"All right, if you�re sure." Nina kissed her daughter and left.
Crystal pushed the nurse�s button and told them she had to go to the bathroom. Earlier she had to use a bedpan, but now they were letting her get up and use crutches. After she had relieved herself and was back in bed Crystal saw that it was only 9:30. It felt so much later. She drifted back off to sleep. She woke up again four hours later. Crystal was wide-awake. She watched TV for awhile, then she read. Finally at 2am she tried to call Janna�s cell phone.
"Hi this is Janna. Leave me a message and I�ll get back to you."
"Damn voice mail." Crystal didn�t leave a message. She didn�t really want to sleep anymore. A little voice in her head said, �Call Elijah�. "I can�t possibly call him it�s 2 in the morning. He�ll be pissed." The voice in her head replied, �Nah, he�s probably out at a club. Call him� Crystal thought what harm could it do. She looked at the number on her cast and dialed. One, two, three rings�
"Hello?" A gruff male voice answered. Crystal knew she had woken him. She quickly hung up the phone. A few seconds later her hospital phone rang.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Who is this?" Elijah asked.
"Hello? Elijah? It�s me." Crystal knew he had been asleep. He must have caller id. Why didn�t she call the cell phone? Instead she called his house.
"Crystal? Are you ok? What�s wrong?" Crystal could hear him sit up. "Why did you hang up."
"Nothings wrong, I�m just bored. I figured you wouldn�t be sleeping yet. I guess I was wrong. I�m sorry I bothered you, sorry I hung up, I�ll let you go�" Crystal felt so stupid but Elijah interrupted.
"No, don�t be sorry. I�m usually not in bed yet. Not when I�m off anyway." Elijah clicked on a lamp by his bed and lit a cigarette.
"Well I�m here by myself and I slept all day mostly, everyone�s gone and I was very bored." Crystal explained again.
"Your mom left too?" Elijah asked
"Yeah, I made her." Crystal sighed, "She looked so tired. I get out of the hospital tomorrow."
"Really? Awesome. What time? I�ll stop by." Elijah asked.
"Around one I guess. You don�t have to stop by."
"No, you�re right I don�t HAVE to. I WANT to." Elijah thought for a moment. "Guess who went to see a movie together tonight."
"Who?" She asked.
"Dom and Janna." Elijah chuckled.
"Ha! She gave in, did she?" Crystal laughed.
"Yup, when she first met him, the first day you were in the hospital she told him that she liked Viggo best. It was quite funny, actually." Elijah told her. Elijah let out a big yawn.
"Well, thanks for talking to me Elijah." Crystal said, yawning as well. "I�m sleepy again so I�ll let you go."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, I have an early morning. They are going to make me walk the halls before I can go." Crystal said.
"All right I�ll be there around 12." Elijah told her. "Maybe I can walk with you or something."
"I�d like that. Thanks again, bye." Crystal said.
"Goodnight Crystal." Elijah hung up the phone and turned off the light. He was sleeping again in a matter of minutes. Crystal on the other hand was up for another hour thinking about the phone call.
