The Anti-Spotlight
Well, you could probably see this one coming too: with a Song Spotlight on a potential chart breaker, I offer a page devoted to describing the worst song- or songs- on the radio. This is where I get my club and bash these records good, hoping the radios will follow suit and NEVER PLAY THESE SUCKERS AGAIN!!!
Carl Henry- Sex U
Tell me, do I have to explain this one? In the chorus, the Montreal singer asks the thorny question to his lover, "can we both get wet?", absolutely ruining the sultry vibe of the song. Furthermore, the song's a huge R&B cliche, using the tired sex talk that have been done to death far too often in the urban world. It's also almost never done well, and, in the case of Henry, this is not one of those times.
Tim Deluxe- It Just Won't Do
Neither does this song, Tim. I've never heard African drums and beats done as bad as this one, and, furthermore, the woman's vocals are downright irritating and simple. Too few dance artists are actually creative and inventive with their beats, opting to go heavy on the base to cover up this fact or, as is the case here, use the same beats and lyrics over and over again as a "song", when it's clearly just one annoying thumping noise. Tell me, when a song is this annoying, how am I supposed to dance to it? Somehow, Deluxe never got that picture...
Ludacris f/Mystical & Infamous 2.0- Move ****
This guy again. Why Ludacris even tries boggles the mind, and why anyone plays him is just as puzzling. "Saturday", his previous single, did have a good beat as one redeeming quality despite its awful lyrics, but this song's beat is just annoying, just using a constant "boom" sound to cover up the fact the DJ's not really trying. Worse, Ludacris believes that shouting and talking is rapping and, no, it's not. As for the other two, Mystical again shows us why he's terrible, as his shouting makes his words indecipherable and makes it sound like he has a hairball stuck down his throat. The guy needs to know I'm officially annoyed with that voice. Infamous 2.0 displays everything that is wrong with most mainstream hip-hop emcees, as he swears incessantly and doesn't make any sense doing it. What's he trying to tell me, "look, I'm cool because I swear!" Wow. Could've fooled me. By the way, Infamous, you're not cool- you're annoying. You know, Ludacris hit new lows with "What's Your Phantasy" and I'd figure he'd never get that bad ever again...then again, being who is, I should have figured he'd get me wrong...
