The purpose of the District Organization
is to serve the Clubs and Lions Clubs International. The
District Organization enables these organizations to enhance
their service to our fellowman. Each club officer and committee
chairperson should become knowledgeable of his/her District
counterpart and seek that persons aid whenever possible.
District Officers should immediately be notified of any
changes in Club status, (deaths, resignations, committee
assignments, etc.) District Officers should also be notified
of club events well in advance so that they may schedule
time for the events they wish to attend.
District positions (Regional and Zone Chairpersons) are
appointed by the District Governor. These appointments are
distributed among clubs and fellow Lions which display either
interest in the position or experience pertinent to the
job. Your feedback/suggestions concerning the District Organization
are solicited by the Vice Governor and are always welcomed.
Region Chairpersons are to assist the Governor. They help
with extension, weak club support, new member indoctrination,
and other ways as required. They are responsible for the
performance of the Zone Chairpersons in their respective
Regions.
The Zone Chairperson is appointed Chairperson of the District
Governor’s Advisory Committee in his/her Zone. The
Zone is composed of 4 to 8 clubs. The Chairperson conducts
at least 3 Zone meetings each year. During these meetings,
club officers report the progress of their clubs. The Chairperson
keeps the Governor informed of various club activities and
ensures clubs within their Zone file their M&A reports
on time. The Zone Chairperson is one of the most vital links
in the Leadership chain.
Anyone desiring to run for Vice Governor / District Governor
may do so by having their club endorsement sent to the District
Governor at least 30 days prior to the District Convention.
(These offices are voted on during the District Convention).
In addition, he/she must have served as President of his/her
club, as a Zone or Regional Chairperson, and one or more
years at the Cabinet level. Also, the candidate desiring
to run for Governor must have served as Vice Governor unless
one of the death/special provisions applies. (see Article
IV – Section 7 of the Lions Clubs International Constitution.)
Anyone desiring to run for other District Offices may do
so by having his/her club’s endorsement sent to the
District Governor at least 30 days prior to the vote at
the District Convention.
You are encouraged to share your background and experience
by becoming a candidate for District Office.
