Brecon Beacons
        National Park
The "beacons" is a little bit out of the way from the M4 motorway,
but it is worth a visit just for the mountain scenery.
Leave the M4 at junction 32 on to the A470 signposted Merthyr.
Stay on the A470, follow signs to
Brecon.
This road takes you into the National Park passing the Llywn-On reservoir. After passing the reservoir, look out for the sign on your left to the
Garw-Nant Forest Centre, where you can enjoy woodland walks, a childrens playground, and a shop where you can buy refreshments, and brochures of the area. There are some nice trout to be caught in the reservoir. Permits can be obtained from machines at the centre. The day permit (7:00am-6:30pm March -October costs 10.50.
Afterwards continue towards Brecon stopping at a large lay-by to take in the view that you see above left. After a few miles turn left to the main visitor centre  where you will find information on the National park.
If you wish you can then carry on to Brecon, a small market town with a nice selection of shops, and some nice "watering holes"! Or perhaps take a ride on the
Brecon mountain railway
