| Crickhowell Castle |

| The castle began as a motte and bailey with timber buildings in the 12th century. It was rebuilt in stone in 1272. In 1402 it was refortified by royal command but was unable to resist the forces of Owain Glyndwr who left it in ruins. Not much remains of the castle, but it is worth a visit as it is in the small but charming market town of Crickhowell. The town has some lovely places to eat, a couple of good shops, and a pleasant walk along the river side |
