INTRODUCTION

National Master Duane Rowe first learned chess 1992, while still attending Kingston College. He made a tremendous impact on the chess scene during that year, and his progress was so fast that he was voted the most promising chess player in 1992.

After winning the LennHapp Tournament of 1992, he went on to become a Three time National Champion wen he won in 1995, 1996 and 1998.

Duane Rowe, is still regarded as one of the most Promising Players in terms of Sheer Talent and is currently ranked third in the Island with a National Rating of over 2300. He achieved his National Master title in 1996.

PLAYING STYLE

While he has yet to live up to his full Potential, NM Rowe oozes sheer confidence and Ability. He is a calculating genius and is matched only by NM Pitterson. He is a well rounded player who balances his natural tactical aggressive style with an amazing ability to grasp the important features in technical positions.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

NM Rowe's career is highlighted by his three time win at nationals, and his excellent performance in the 34th Chess Olympiad, where he achieved a score of 6.5/13 in his first Olympiad. His meteoric rise as a Junior is surpassed only by NM Pitterson and maybe equaled by NM Matthews. He won almost every single Junior Tournament in his era, including the under 14, u16, and under 18 Open Championships.

RECENT TOURNAMENT RESULTS

NM Rowe recently placed in the top six of the 2002 recently concluded National Chess Champs after coming back from a long layoff from the sport due to studies. he has qualified for the Jamaica Olympic chess team and will now represent his country for the second time in the 35th Chess Olympiad, which will be held in Bled, Slovenia.
