Hanwei's favorite and many viewers' too.

As Hanwei puts it, it has all that make a good drama: competent cast, good script, nice songs, great photography and skilful directing.

Hanwei said that every team member put in their best effort for this show.

He also had the chance to stretch his acting skills to portray inner emotions.

2002

Drama Festival Top Telemovie. Voted into top 5 favorite telemovies, theme song voted into top 10 favorite songs

Ironically , this show and its theme song never won any awards. Hanwei, who earned rave review for his performance in this show, was not nominated for Best Actor  either.
RTV times predicted a lukewarm chance of winning in Star Awards 96

Winning factor:

Successful choice of cast. Hanwei and Zhu Ying are very appealing. Emotional scenes are well portrayed and profound. Many in audience cried.

Losing factor:

An ordinary love story

P/S:  Telemovie "Jia Yo Yi Bao"  starring Ann Kok won in that year. Shocking silence greeted the announcement of  this unexpected winner.  Even greater shock - Ann hopping on stage in a see-through blouse  to receive the award on  behalf of the director...

Awards or no awards, like the noble love story in "Cupid Love" , this  show and its song shall rise above  profanities and politics  and remain eternally in the audience's hearts as the best...

Comments on this top telemovie at Drama festival

Terminal Illness. Ultimate Match

The romantic love destiny of the terminally ill lead actor is most unforgettable for the audience. It's as touching as any Korean drama! Lead actor with special aura, Chen Hanwei and Hong Kong beauty's exchange of  gaze is likened by Hanwei as two people having known each other in previous lives. Zhu Ying said that she felt so comfortable that she didn't feel like they were acting. Though the show is unreal, their love become real... They became bosom pen-pals!R

Reporter's comments after watching it again:

I watched again and again. The deep sincere love acted out by Chen Hanwei and Zhu Ying in  "Cupid Love" is still so movingly sad. They portrayed the life and death  love story between a rich, good  guy with a ill-fated girl. Indeed long before Korean idol dramas make such sadly beautiful story famous, "Cupid" already moved our local audience's hearts

Another sad irony. The VCD was as far as we know never sold in Singapore. It was Hanwei's fans from overseas (Peijun and Pebbles) that inform us where to get the Hongkong  version. It was even sold in Canada at one time. Right now yesasia in Hongkong is the only shop we know selling it online.
