Romantic Proposal Ideas

A bottle of champagne, a candlelit dinner, a  red rose, romantic music in the background, and a diamond ring. What more could the girl of your dreams want? This could be the perfect setting for you to propose to the love of your life, however there are many other Romantic Proposal ideas that we will present to you.

The Traditional Proposal

Often the simplest idea is the best, and generally you cannot beat a classical romantic dinner setting to propose to your future wife. You cannot go wrong with a bottle of champagne or a fine wine, a candlelit dinner, a  red rose, romantic music and of course a diamond ring.

You may choose to propose at  a nice restaurant, preferably one with a great view and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Advise the restaurant staff of your plans in advance and they will assist you create the perfect romantic setting. Alternatively you may wish to host a romantic dinner at home, allowing you to create a romantic atmosphere with your own special touch. For ideas on how to the perfect romantic dinner, click here.

Whatever option you choose, don't forget when the time comes, drop to one knee and let those eternal words slip from your mouth, "Will you marry me?". As we all know, a woman loves to see a man on his knees.

Alternatives

Personally I believe you can't go past the traditional romantic proposal, but there are many alternatives if you like to do things a little different. Here are some ideas:

  • A drive or walk in the country and a romantic picnic lunch. Include champagne, chocolates, roses and an engagement ring for the final course.

  • Try the shock treatment. Send your girlfriend on a tandem parachute jump, and wait for her at the bottom with a special surprise.

  • A romantic boat cruise.

  • Get a trusted friend to leave the ring (including a note) at your girlfriends place of work, give her a call and tell her to open the gift in the top draw of the desk. Hopefully she doesn't hang up.

  • If it is the 29th of February, and you are female, feel free to propose to the man of your dreams.

Don't:

  • Propose in bed.

  • Have a skinful and make a proposal that both parties may regret.

  • Propose in front of family or friends unless you are 100 percent sure.

  • Do it on radio. This is just not romantic, you are simply entertainment for all the listeners.
