1) At home turn off a unwanted, passion killing distractions such as the TV, mobile, phone, pager........ Consider sending the kids elsewhere for the night and even send the attention seeking House Cat outside for a night under the stars. 2) An untidy, smelly and cluttered house does not exude romance. 3) Dine by candlelight. Candles can transform the simplest meal into a romantic occasion. Set a formal table using our simple guidelines. 4) Fluoros and stark white globes are not romantic. If you don't want to use candles for lighting, try a lava lamp or a fashionable shade lamp. 5) Flowers exude romance, and roses are considered the most romantic. Remember red roses mean love, while white roses mean friendship. 6) Scent the room. Use flowers, lightly scented candles and aromatherapy. The power of aromatherapy can not be understated. Add some relaxing and romantic oils to your oil burners (be conservative as you do not want the scents to be overpowering) and let them work their magic. If you are hosting a romantic dinner party, consider using the scented candles and essential oils after dinner so as not to overpower the delicious aroma of the meal. 7) Don't neglect your bathroom. Add floating candles in a nice bowl and an oil burner. 8) Should a man pull a woman's chair out for her before she sits? Well, that depends. At a restaurant you should assist the lady to her chair, but generally at a good restaurant, the person who seats the couple will probably pull the chair out for her. At home, definitely pull the chair out for your lady. 9) If cooking or dining out choose a good restaurant, but one you will still feel comfortable in. For the meal my best tip for is to eat light. Nothing ruins a romantic evening faster than that bloated "I can't move" feeling. 10) A gift to show your true feelings to your partner. It could be a simple gift such as flowers or a cute and cuddly bear (try our florists business directory for some great gift ideas). If you want to spend a little more you can't go wrong with a nice piece of jewellery (the jewellers listed in our business directory have just what you need. 11) Good table manners will impress. Refer to our dining etiquette guide. However do not go overboard with table etiquette if it is just not you. Being comfortable, friendly and confident is what the night is all about. 12) Impress with your knowledge of wines and champagnes. Try our food and win guide. 13) After the formalities are over try some of these suggestions for the end to a perfect night:
