We are just at the beginning of CSA T20 Challenge and with some unexpected results already, the tournament is gearing up for an exciting run. We will certainly see the points table shuffle going forward and the next few matches are going to be pretty interesting in that context.
Up next in the tournament, the Knights are set to take on the Titans in a match that is of massive importance for both these sides. The Titans are currently hovering in the middle part of the points table and would want to break away towards the top. The Knights, on the other hand, are still searching for their first win and will be desperate for one in this upcoming match.
Both sides are expected to come out hard at each other in this upcoming match that is to be played on 12th February 2022 at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth.
Knights are one of the only two sides who have not won a match yet in the tournament so far. They suffered an embarrassing loss at the hands of Dolphins first-up and were then defeated by North West Dragons in a match that they should have ideally won. They would be desperate for a win here as another loss here would push them further away from the reckoning.
In both their matches gone by, the Knights had one thing standing out, which is their batsmen not firing to their potential. They were restricted to a total of 95 runs by the North West Dragons and against the Dolphins, they managed to put a total of just 128 runs on the board. In both the matches, there wasn't much that their bowlers could have done and were eventually defeated in a thumping manner.
As it currently stands on the points table, the Knights are languishing at the bottom of the points table with zero wins from two matches. Not only that, they also have a terrible net run rate of -2.438, which just shows how poor they have been.
On paper, the Knights have a decent side but their experienced players have failed to fire big time thus far. The likes of Jacques Snyman, Pite van Biljon, Patrick Kruger, and Farhaan Behardien will all need to step up their game going into this upcoming match. If they are able to do that and bowlers perform to their potential, the Knights will be well and truly in contention to pull off a much-needed win here.
Mangaliso Mosehle, PJ van Biljon, Raynard van Tonder, Farhaan Behardien, Patrick Kruger, Jacques Snyman, Migael Pretorius, Jason Raubenheimer, Gregory Mahlokwana, Alfred Mothoa, Nealan van Heerden.
Just like most of the other sides in the tournament, the Titans have had an iffy tournament thus far, winning one and losing one of the two matches that they have played. They started their campaign with a loss at the hands of the Warriors but then quickly bounced back with a close win over the Rocks in their previous match.
Currently on the points table, the Titans are placed at the fifth spot and a win here may well push them to the third. Their net run rate of -0.125 doesn't really look as bad and a decent win here should push that back into the positive.
Led by Theunis de Bruyn, the Titans are coming into this game one a back of three-run win with their top-order doing the bulk of the job. Quinton de Kock scored 72 runs and Gihan Cloete contributed with a useful 53. However, there wasn't much contribution from the rest of their players and the Titans would want to see that improve going forward. On the bowling front, however, the Titans are near-flawless. Picking up three important wickets, Junior Dala was the pick of the bowlers and was ably assisted by Aaron Phangiso, who picked up a couple of scalps.
On paper, the Titans have one of the better sides in the tournament with match-winners available right throughout their lineup. Besides, Quinton de Kock is in terrific touch and will not be easy to keep quiet. Their bowling lineup too looks pretty good with the likes of Tabraiz Shamsi, Junior Dala, and Aaron Phangiso available. If anything, the Titans would want to do better with the bat in the death overs. If they are able to do that and perform to their peak on-paper potential, they will be a very difficult side to beat not just in the upcoming match, but also in the remainder of the competition.
Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Sibonelo Makhanya, Theunis de Bruyn, Donavon Ferreira, Ayabulela Gqamane, Dewald Brevis, Aaron Phangiso, Tabraiz Shamsi, Junior Dala, Lizaad Williams.

Titans have undoubtedly punched below their weight so far and would want to make things move sooner rather than later. The Knights, on the other hand, are yet to get off the mark and will be desperate for a win here. The Titans showed glimpses of what they are capable of in their last outing and would want to take it to the next level. They are also a better balanced side between the two on paper and will be brimming with confidence following their win in the last match. Considering that and the other factors stated above, the Titans look favorites. Back Titans to register a win in this upcoming contest.
