The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League has gotten off to rather anti-climatic start with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, the two sides with nine title finishes between them sitting at the bottom of the ladder. All is still not lost for both these sides but it would be imperative for these to be at their very best. Up next in the tournament, Chennai Super Kings will be searching for their second win as they take on Gujarat Titans in what is an important game for both these sides. The match is to be played on 17th April 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
With just one loss from five matches, Gujarat Titans are certainly proving to be the dark horses of the tournament. They have not only proven to be the team to beat in the tournament so far, they have done so pretty non-chalantly. As it currently stands, they are placed at the top of the ladder with eight points to their name with a pretty good net run rate of 0.450.
While the Titans' stronger suite is their bowling, they have pleasantly surprised their fans with the way they have batter. The likes of Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, and David Miller have been impressive in all the recent games they have played. On the bowling front, Mohammad Shami and Lokie Ferguson have been exceptional in the powerplays. With Rashid Khan available to bowl in the middle overs, they have a settled bowling attack too. All they would need to do is to continue playing as they have and if they are able to do that, getting past them could prove be very difficult.
Shubman Gill, WP Saha, V Shankar, David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rashid Khan, R Tewatia, Yash Dayal, Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami.
Chennai Super Kings got off to the worst-possible start to season, losing all of their first four matches but then bounced back to keep their chances alive with an important win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. They are currently placed at the ninth spot with one win from five but a win here could prove to be game-changing for them.
On paper, Chennai Super Kings always had a decent lineup and now with their top-order doing well, they can be a hard unit to crack. The additional of Maheesh Theekshana has proven to be a welcome one and he could prove to be the difference in this upcoming match. If Chennai Super Kings are able to do anything similar to how they did against the Royal Challengers, getting past them could prove to be incredibly difficult.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, RV Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary.

It is an important match for both the sides, albeit for different reasons. Gujarat Titans would want to run away at the top with their lead whereas Chennai Super Kings would want to get into the thick of things. Both sides are coming off wins in their respective last matches and will be brimming with confidence. Considering that Chennai Super Kings have a tad more expensive available at their disposal and a very favorable risk-reward ratio, we are placing our money on a Chennai Super Kings win and so should you.
It's two occasions now that Ruturaj Gaikwad has looked good and hasn't not got a big score. He is one of the finest players that Chennai Super Kings have technically and will want to make this opportunity count. We believe he is too good a player to be one of the lowest averaging player in the competition and a fifty is around the corner for him.
Shubman Gill have gotten out twice on two occasions for rather paltry score after scoring a couple of back to back fifties. He is an excellent player of spin as well as pace and can bat through the innings. Bet on Shubman Gill to be the top-scorer for the Titans in this upcoming match.
