DARJEELING - "The Queen of the Hills" - W.B. India.

"Dorje Ling", "the place of the Thunderbolt", straddles a ridge 2200 meters up in the Himalayas. Often shrouded by the clouds during the 'Monsoon' Season, this delightful and cosmopolitan town was originally a Summer Resort during the British Raj. Half a century later it still remains a much sought after vacationing spot.

A favourite year round "Tourist Destination" where visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of this unique little town, often hidden from view by the summer mist. One can sit out on the hotel balcony and marvel at the panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga (27,000 ft.) third highest mountain in the world while sipping a fresh hot cup of the world renowned 'Darjeeling Tea'.

Darjeeling was also home to the late, Mr. Tenzing Norgay, who on May 29, 1953 along with Sir Edmund Hillary, were the first recorded conquerors of Mt. Everest (29,028 ft.).
