LIFESPAN & SIZE
The lifespan of pot-bellied pigs ranges from 15 to 30 years. They are
fully grown by the time they're 2, and reach sexual maturity at 7 or 8
months. Our piggy is 5 years old, weighs about 45 pounds, and stands 16"
tall. Some minis are a little smaller, so if you're looking for one in
the 30-35 pound range, be sure to check out the parents first because genetics
play an important role. Miniatures can range anywhere from 30 to 150 pounds,
and stand anywhere from 10 to 20 inches tall.
WARNING -- DO NOT attempt
to look at baby pot-bellied pigs unless you plan to take one home. Why?
Because even if you have no intention of acquiring one, they mysteriously
end up in your car. :-)

TEETH
Pot-bellies have a set of tusk teeth, or eye teeth, which should be
clipped once or twice a year, depending on how fast their tusks grow. Consult
your veterinarian for your piggies individual needs.
Miss
Piggy's tusks were already
clipped when we got her, and are just now to the point they need to be
clipped again. Her ears were also pierced when we got her, so she
now has her own little selection of pierced earrings, (posts rather than
dangles), and wears them whenever we dress her up for special occasions.
We also paint her hooves with fingernail polish to give her that feminine
look. Piggy tends to act a little "prissy" whenever she's dressed up, so
she is quite the character.
