enemies... but are they all truely enemies? OZ; the 'Organization of the Zodiac'. Though the Gundam pilots seemed to be attacking the United Earth Sphere Alliance, they were in truth attacking OZ, whom had hidden themselves behind the Alliance as the elite 'Specials' troops, commanded by Treize Khusrenada and funded by aristocrats who believed strongly in honor and tradition. Trowa and his Heavyarms Gundam were no different from the other Gundam pilots and their mobile suits. When Treize requested that OZ was taken out of his command, many if not most OZ officers left to form the 'Treize Faction', and OZ became the 'Romafeller Foundation' lead by Duke Durmail. Treize Khusrenada; Trowa had no personal quarel with Treize, but he was indeed a target. Trowa aided Wufei in his attempt to assassinate Treize, but Wufei failed when he lost his duel with the 'more honorable than expected' Colonel Treize Khusrenada. Treize was a childhood friend to Milliardo Peacecraft, who later was known as Lieutenant Zechs Merquis. He also felt very deeply for his attendant Colonel Lady Une. Treize 'stripped' Queen Relena of her title and position so that she could go into space to speak with her brother, and so that she would no longer be burdoned with the title 'Queen of the World'. With his new position he talked the Romafeller Foundation into re-arming themselves to battle the White Fang with a reborn OZ. Treize personally lead the troops into battle against the White Fang and their Libra battleship; a battle which resulted in the deaths of many OZ and White Fang officers. This battle also resulted in Treize's own death at the hands of Wufei Chang... Treize died honorably in a duel, and knew that he had to die so that the 'war-like' would not return to Earth, thus leaving it a peaceful place. Duke Durmail; the uncle of Treize Khusrenada and grandfather of Dorothy Catalonia. He lacked the honor of his nephew and sought out only to be the ruler of Earth and the Colonies. In his attempt to do this, he tried to make all of Earth and the Colonies become militaristic, thus causing them to 'jump right into OZ's arms', 'practicly begging to be governed by them'. He crowned Princess Relena of the fallen Sanc Kingdom to be Queen of the World, in hopes he could control her from behind the stage, and that he would rule while she as the 'unifying icon' would be in the spotlight. However, his plan backfired and the rest of the Romafeller Foundation lost faith in him because he disagreed with Queen Relena's true ideals, and even went so far as to argue with her. His grand-daughter Dorothy suggested he go to space to distance himself from the Romafeller Foundation and let their anger against him fade before trying anything so risky as taking away Relena's power. When he went into space, the Artemis Revolution, now calling themselves the 'White Fang', destroyed his shuttle just moments before announcing their new leader. Lady Une; truely an enigma. She recruted the disguised Cadet Trowa Barton to pilot the Vayeate mobile suit for OZ. Her feelings toward Colonel Treize Khusrenada caused her to develop split-personalities. One was of the ruthless Colonel Lady Une of OZ. The other was known as 'Saint' Anne Une, in charge of establishing peaceful relations between OZ and the colonies. Saint Une did this to 'prepare' space for the coming of his excelency, Treize. She once said, "Treize Khusrenada fell in love with people... and he also fell in love with the death of people." She sided with him in his disgust for the path that OZ was taking by adopting the Mobile Dolls, artifically-intelegent mobile suits to battle in place of humans. She freed the captive Gundam pilots and scientists, and was then shot by Colonel Tuberoph, the creator of the Mobile Dolls. Upon this event, she silently asked the pilots to continue fighting, and to let her love them for the peaceful people that they truely were. She was believed to be dead, but when Space Fortress Barge was destroyed, she was taken to Earth in a coma. She regained conciousness when she felt that Treize's life was in danger. She left the hospital and stole a newly rebuilt Wing Gundam, piloting it to space and using it to save Treize from Libra's beam cannon. Though Treize died by Wufei's beam-yari, she felt no hatred toward Wufei as she understood why Treize let the boy kill him. In the months after the war she created the 'Preventers', a group that would litteraly help to prevent more wars from occouring, and deal with them as they did. It is believed that she adopted Marimeia Khushrenada, the daughter that her true love had with Leia Barton. Dorothy Catalonia; the war-loving grand-daughter of Duke Durmail. She was childhood friends with Milliardo Peacecraft and Treize Khusrenada. Aboard Libra, she engaged in a duel with Quatre Winner, while they argued about war, peace, and death. She stabs him in the duel, and barely able to breathe, mustless talk, Quatre finally told her how human beings who don't care for others are lower than animals. When Quatre collapsed, Trowa stands in the doorway, watching her. As she stared at Quatre, taken aback by what the young man had said, Trowa only told her, "That's sad... a girl who can't cry." Mariemeia Khushrenada-Barton; The daughter of Treize Khushrenada and Leia Barton; her mother died when she was only two, and she never knew her father as he had returned to OZ in an exchange of POWs. When Trowa first saw her, he was known as 'Nanashi' or 'no-name'. The true Trowa Barton was showing Nanashi a photo of Leia and the baby Mariemeia, bragging about his newborn niece and how she would rule the world someday. When Trowa was killed and Nanashi took his place, he believed that the possibility of Mariemeia taking control was no more than a memory. How wrong he was. Christmas Eve, After Colony 196, Mariemeia Khushrenada, her grandfather Dekim Barton, and the Mariemeia Faction, began their takeover of Earth by kidnapping Miss Relena Dorlan. Trowa joined the Mariemeia Faction as a soldier in an attempt to assassinate Dekim, who was using Mariemeia like a puppet much like Duke Durmail had used Queen Relena, but his attempt was stopped by Wufei Chang, and he ended up being put into a battle against his once ally Duo Maxwell. In the end, the Gundams teamed up to go after Mariemeia. The sweet little eight-year-old dictator was hiding in an underground compound, highly guarded by Serpent MSs, where she and Relena discussed wars and pacifism. Mariemeia pointed out how the people of Earth weren't arguing, but were just going along with whatever she demanded. Relena grabbed a radio and told the people of Earth not to be intimidated by Mariemeia, and that they could fight back. The girl found it odd that a pacifist would say such a thing, but soon after, Heero unleashed an attack on the base, not knowing that Relena was inside. Dekim told him that he would kill Relena if he kept firing, but after a pause, Heero fired again... Lady Une ran in and used herself to shield Mariemeia from the explosions that nearly destroyed the room. Dekim announced that it was time for Mariemeia to ascend to her throne, but Relena slapped Mariemeia to knock some sense into her. Dekim told Relena to stop saying such foolish things about pacifism to his grand-daughter, and drew a gun, firing... Mariemeia took the bullet instead. He just said that another Mariemeia could always be created and that she was but a puppet... it was then that he was killed by one of his own soldiers. Mariemeia recovered, and was most likely adopted by Lady Une. It is unknown is Trowa ever even met Mariemeia after the war was over. Dekim Barton; The grandfather of Mariemeia Khushrenada-Barton. He was one of the men behind the original Operation Meteor, a plan to drop one of the L5 colonies (Wufei's own home colony, actually) onto Earth and send the Gundams to Earth durring the chaos and take control. When the Gundam pilots went against the original plan and decided to fight OZ, Dekim began a new plan. This was to use Mariemeia, the daughter of Treize Khushrenada, to take over Earth instead. After Treize was killed, so many of those loyal to him joined Mariemeia because they saw it as still being loyal to Treize. They had no idea that Dekim was the real mastermind behind this. He uncovered that Nanashi had taken the real Trowa's place, but let him live. In the end, Dekim was shot and killed by one of his own men who realized what was going on. |
