Harmony Church Cemetery

Our lovely cemetery is part of Harmony Church, according to the records the ground for it was donated by Mr. Cort at the same time as the church. Graves as old as the church, if not older are found in it. On Sept. 6, 1876 a committee was appointed to incorporate the cemetery and articles of incorporation were adopted Nov. 30, 1876. As records are missing we do not know who this committee was nor what the articles were. However we do have a copy of articles of incorporation for a cemetery association which were adopted in 1907. The trustees for this association were William Bradley, Daniel Schaltz, Jacob Kemerer, Martin Denlinger, Ambrose Higgins, Fred Cueno and William Watters.

In 1940 a strip of land was donated to the cemetery on the west side by the Brouillard Estate, and as a result the entire cemetery was sureyed and refenced. A new title was also procured.

We are thankful that our cemetery is being kept in order. The upkeep and order of the cemetery for many years had been done through the efforts of Mr, George Kifer and members of his family, Mr. Kifer, in addition to securing the laborers and supplies for the upkeep of the cemetery property, personally gave many hours of labor in order to maintain the beauty of the property.

Today a committee of four trustees, overlook the upkeep of the cemetery under the direction of the church council. Upkeep is provided by funds from Perpetual Care. Current Cemetery Trustees are: Fred Bruns, Lynn Kifer, Harvey Miller, Richard (Bud) Reisen, and Joe Reisen.
