First Grade – The Beers Taste Good Once Again Score: 1-0 Goal Scorer(s):
Nick Rainey Match Report: A dominating performance by the boys wasn’t reflected
on the scoreboard but victory is sweet none the less. I’m sure everyone
will agree it was great to hear the Tiger’s victory song ringing out
loud in the dressing room once again and to see the smiles on
everyone’s faces after the game. The beers always taste better after a
victory! It
was by far the best performance of the season with several standouts around
the park. Having Towns back in midfield, battling hard and winning plenty of
ball, enabled Nick Sheather to play a more attacking role which he relished
in. There was a notable difference in ball retention with Nick up front,
relieving pressure on Nick Rainey and Ash and enabling the halves time to
push up in support and provide that vital link with the front men. We
created plenty of chances from start to finish with the first chance falling
to Rains after a mistake by a There
were too many chances in the second half to list with several scrambles in
the opposition’s 6 yard box not falling our way. The game was won with
a well timed angled run to the near post by Nick Rainey whose first touch set
him up for an excellent finish giving the keeper no chance. There
were some fantastic passages of play throughout the game with the team
showing a lot more patience on the ball compared to previous weeks with everyone
putting in a 100 percent. Congratulations to Benny and the defence who kept
their first clean sheet of the season which was without doubt the difference
between winning and losing. John O’Leary was also outstanding at right
half and found himself with plenty of space by offering out wide in attack,
tucking in while in defence and working tirelessly till the last minute. A
well deserved man of the match. Congratulations
boys. I’m sure the upcoming week will be much more enjoyable. Man of the Match: John O’Leary Reserve Grade Score: 3-2 Goal Scorer(s): Dwayne
Beazley (2), Guy Halpin Match Report: A bright
start to the game saw Andrew Reid crack an ambitious volley from long range
which unfortunately crashed against the cross bar and out to safety. The
first goal was setup by an unlikely source with our keeper, Andrew Stahl,
punting a long ball to Dwayne who made the most of a one on one with the
keeper by delicately chipping him after coming off his line. Shortly after a
lapse in defence saw a Guy
had a golden opportunity to put the team ahead when a dreadful The
boys were cruising along in the second half until we fell asleep in defence
once again allowing an unchallenged near post tap in after a left hand side
free kick and subsequent cross. Fortunately Dwayne came to the rescue once
again after one of numerous raids down the right saw him cut back inside and
hit a shot that the Well
done lads another victory to the good guys. Man of the Match: Dwayne Beazley |
