SYNOPSIS/PLOT For the past 12 months, DEA agent Bobby Trench (Denzel Washington) and U.S. naval intelligence officer Marcus Stigman (Mark Wahlberg) have been reluctantly attached at the hip. Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to take down. When their attempt to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions goes haywire, Trench and Stigman are suddenly disavowed by their superiors. Now that everyone wants them in jail or in the ground, the only person they can count on is the other. Unfortunately for their pursuers, when good guys spend years pretending to be bad, they pick up a few tricks along the way.

PRO REVIEWS ----------------------------------------

"The picture survives its excesses thanks to winning chemistry between stars (...), who animate banter-heavy dialogue and click so well one wonders why they haven't shared the screen before" (John DeFore: The Hollywood Reporter)

----------------------------------------

"Kormakur shows he knows his way around an action movie better than most, keeping the pace quick, the banter lively and the old-school, mostly CGI-free thrills delivering right on schedule" (Scott Foundas: Variety)

----------------------------------------

"Mr. Kormakur sets and keeps up a fast rather than frantic pace that never runs the movie off the rails even when the story nearly does" (Manohla Dargis: The New York Times)

----------------------------------------

"Hell, I really meant to at least like '2 Guns'. But I couldn't. The movie just didn't make the extra effort (...) Rating: ** (out of four)" (Peter Travers: Rolling Stone)

----------------------------------------

"'2 Guns' is a much-needed reminder that the best summer surprises can come when you least expect them" (Chris Nashawaty: Entertainment Weekly)

----------------------------------------

"Pure charisma is sometimes the best special effect. That’s what Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg bring to '2 Guns', and after a season full of superhero duds, they deliver a crucial dose of cool (...) Rating: **** (out of five)" (Joe Neumaier: New York Daily News)

----------------------------------------

"Kormakur lays out an action sequence with a swiftness and a coherence missing from many other pictures (...) The bantering stars remain front and center throughout (...) Rating: **1/2 (out of four)" (Michael Phillips: Chicago Tribune)

----------------------------------------

"By its conclusion the story has worked so hard to be twisting and clever that it runs out of steam and becomes outlandish, marked by a surplus of violence — too often casual and gratuitous — for what essentially is a buddy cop movie (...) Rating: ** (out of four)" (Claudia Puig: USA Today)
