We will board the White Pass and
Yukon Route Railroad in Skagway and change to a bus right
after the Canadian border.
|
|
The train starts almost at sea level but climbs steeply.
The views are spectacular. The paler green line about half way
up the hill on the left is the railroad track.

|
 |
Some of the bridges are a bit unnerving. I have travelled most
of the way with a pleasant couple of Englishmen sharing the outside
platform and enthusing about how beautiful it is.
|
|
Today has been cloudy but I hope to get more photos - it's OK
not to look at ALL of them :-) - on the way back.

We change from the train to a bus to finish the journey to Whitehorse.
There has been a Canadian Customs and Immigration inspection,
before we leave the train.
Look, it's sunny up North!
|
|
Whitehorse is bright and beautiful and blue skied, a nice change
from coastal weather. The river bank is a soft, pale cly, quite
unlike the rocks further south.
The hotel is a little further from the centre than we expected
but we have a kitchen. So we have been off to the mall to pick
up groceries
