How to clean up my computer and fix it
How to get my computer starting up in a jiffy--no more lawn mowing while waiting for my computer to boot up! Here's the answer to your question:
Lately my PC seems to take forever to boot up. I’m running Windows XP with plenty of RAM. Any ideas?
1. Do a disk cleanup. This will remove some of the junk that is cluttering up your system.
2. If necessary, clear out your temp files manually.
3. Uninstall any software you will not ever use.
4. Clean up the Windows registry with a commercial grade software package such as Norton System Works.
5. Remove any un-needed icons from the Windows desktop and Start menu tree.
6. Run MSCONFIG and remove any rarely used programs from the Windows task bar. the Windows task bar.
7. Defragment the hard drive.
8. Then if you want we have a great program for you to download that will help your computer so much. Use your search engine and look for "Clean Up". It's a windows utility and it will clean up your computer in almost everything that is needed. So go to the site and download it. Once it's installed, then use it. It will work automatically.
9.Then every time you log off your computer, make sure you use the clean up program which automatically signs you out of your computer. It make it work much faster and easier, may not fix all your problems, but it will sure speed your computer up.
10. Then ever so often, when your computer acts up again, use these instructions to help you again.
11. if all else fails, you could always format your computer say once every 2 years or longer, depending on your computers functionality. Make sure you save programs and downloads that you want onto disk so that if you do format your computer, you won't lose important stuff. Always make a backup of your stuff.
