Four Chests
Four chests of different types from top to bottom;
- A small Indian made silk lined jewel case with brass bindings, hinges and locks.
The carved Mother of Pearl inlay and high shine deep laquer finish are typical features of this style of box.
The box measures 5�" x 4" x 3"
- An instrument case probably made in the early 20th century. Lined and with an internal tray it has been recently been used as a trinket box.The box measures 10�" x 6" x 5"
- An early 19th Century walnut Writing Slope with Brass Locks &Bindings. Original leather slope and internal fittings with some signs of repair to the brass straps.The box measures 19�" x 10" x 7"
- The Carved Indian Rosewood chest with extensive decorative hand worked brass inlay. Internal fittings include many'secret' compartments.The box measures 21�" x 14" x 11"
Oak Corner Cupboard
This plain oak corner cupboard, constructed in two parts to facilitate movement, is a fine example of the plain unadorned domestic furniture typical of the early 19th century.
The upper section has a key lockable glazed door with a removeable shelf to the interior, whilst the lower section has two shelves and a solic wood lockable door. The rear panels, which have been fitted with handmade nails are of rough hand sawn seasoned pine.
The overall height of the cupboard is 175cm, and the width at the lower half is 79cm .
