Photo-Essay on A 100 Year-Old House Being Restored Next To The Trail in Arlington Kimball House, 1899. Restored in a robin-egg blue color, this house was moved one-half block east of Lee Highway in March, 2000, from a seedy retail district to the edge of an Arlington residential neighborhood, and only feet from the trail. As it was restored, it was nearly doubled in size. It lost its fish-tale shingles in the gable, but it kept two stained-glass windows (on the sides) which were typical of the Victorian houses.  |
Of the original owners (in 1900), a married couple, the husband worked for the federal government in DC, while the wife was active in civic clubs in the Falls Church area. Although this house is in Arlington County today, when it was built, it was part of the Town of Falls Church.
