The Priest and Priestess, Magister and Hand Maiden, Guardian, and Quarter Masters will gather at the center of the circle. They will “wash” their hands in a ceramic bowl with “Magic” water in it. As they wash their hands, they will cease to be who they were, and will become their roles.
I wash my palms in purity.
I wash my hands of the world vulgar.
I will approach the divine with joy
And walk about the place of your altar, Jahwa.
I make heard with a voice of thanksgiving,
and account for all your wonders, Jahwa.
I love dwelling in your house,
and will rise in the habitation of honor.
I will raise up my soul, and become A God!
With that, the guardian will shave the magnesium block over the censor. Then, the Guardian will strike the Iron stick so that the magnesium ignites. The “Luciferus” should be lit from that spark. The Guardian will chant:
The Shadow and the Light burn as one in us.
We are wondrously and marvelously made.
Now, we begin!
The Quarter Lanterns will then be lit from the Lucirferus, and the Quarter Masters will ambulate, diocil, to the circle’s boundary. They will continue to ambulate until they call for the quarters.
The Guardian will ring the Bell nine times. Between each ring, they will chant this:
In the name of God, the gracious, the merciful;
In the name of the Lord and Lady;
In the name of the Keepers of the Books;
In the name of the Warders of the Watchtowers;
In the name of the Guardians of Heaven and Hell;
In the name of the immortal Nobles;
In the name of the Gentry;
In the name of the Honored Ancestors;
In the name of the Children of Life:
When the bell’s last tole has cleared the air, the seven will chant together:
In the name of God, the ruler of Nature, regent of the worlds;
We command the forces of Shadow and Light
To open the dark channels within us.
Open the Gates and set forth upon the abyss;
call forth the gentry,
call forth the nobles,
call forth the warders,
that they may join our happy rite, and bless this merry affair!
Open the gates we raise this Kiva.
Raised for this Rite of Passage.
Come to this place, this time this temple.
Come in good cheer and love.
Open the Gates, we know your names here.
Welcome in grace and peace.
Blessed are the just, the trees have whispered.
Cursed are the ifs of life.
We bring the balance of the temple into place:
They’ve come to us. They’re with us now. We welcome them.
¡So mote it be!
Set the caldron of water upon the Pentacle. With the phallus, sketch three water invoking pentacles over the water. Then chant:
Blessings upon you, oh creature of Water.
Now, you are pure, and free from the phantasm.
Now, serve us in this temple, and bid our will supreme.
As our will, ¡So mote it be!
Set the water aside. Place the salt (3 doses) upon the Pentacle. Sketch three earth invoking pentacles over the salt with the phallus. Then chant:
Greetings, oh Mother of Earth.
You, who are free, and pure by nature.
Serve us now, in our temple.
Bid our will supreme.
As our will, ¡So mote it be!
Place the salt into the water. Stir left-handed with the phallus:
We have married the ways of Earth and Water,
noble creatures in their own ways.
Now, you may serve us in this rite,
and ever in your day.
Pass the holy water with the phallus to the priest. He will then sprinkle the water upon the Priestess, the Guardian, then the circle. He will ensure that he also sprinkles the Temple and the Quarter Masters. During this, he will chant:
Water and Salt, the cursed shall halt,
and leave this world of lore.
Salt and water, the ill will falter,
and be lost, e’er the rite is over.
Repeat, until all is blessed.
Set the censer upon the Pentacle. Ensure that the charcoal is adequate, and add what we need. With the Athamé sketch three fire invoking pentacles over the fire. Then chant:
Greetings, oh Father of Fire,
always free, and pure by nature.
Serve us now, in our temple.
Bid our will supreme.
As our will, ¡So mote it be!
Place the crucible aside.
Set the incense upon the Pentacle. Sketch three air invoking pentacles over the incense. Then chant:
Blessings upon you, oh creature of air.
Now, you are pure,
and free from the phantasm.
Now, serve us in our Temple.
Bid our will supreme.
As our will, ¡So mote it be!
Place the incense into the brazier. With the Athamé, inscribe three earth banishing pentacles. Chanting:
We have married the ways of air and fire,
noble creatures in their own way.
Now, you can serve us in this rite,
and ever in your day.
Give the crucible and Athamé to the Priestess, who will fume the Priest, fume the Guardian, fume the circle, making sure to fume the Temple and the Quarter Masters. She will chant:
Fire and Air, our life is fair,
enter this world of lore.
Air and fire, lift us higher,
wax strong as this rite is over.
When the Priestess reaches the circle boundary, the Priest and Priestess will establish the Circle. The Quarter Masters will take their places as they come upon them. The Priest and Priestess will chant together:
Thrice a circle do we weave,
Establishing now this Kiva.
Now do we see this Magic diva.
Into this world have we been risen,
Happy are we to be there.
A moment away from time, from space.
Out of the world this place, this time is.
Touched on the world immortal.
Lift up our voice to wonder.
The guardian will ring the bell once. Then, will chant:
We approach a dark door, all light is absorbed.
The guardian will use Magic lips to bid the door to open. It does, and the Guardian will continue:
I see a hot ball of molten Earth. This is the heart of the great Mother. Do you hear Her lullaby? Do you smell Her body? Do you feel Her power?
Now, we turn, and see another brilliant door. All the colors seem to originate from that door.
The Guardian will use Magic lips to bid the door to open, and it does. The Guardian will continue:
I see a bright crystalline orb. This is the heart of the great Father. Do you see the colors dance? Can you feel the rhythm of the light? Do you feel His power?
Now, we return to our Temple.
We have fully established the Temple.
The Priest and the Priestess return to the service table, and replace the chalice, phallus, censure, and Athamé to their places. The Guardian retrieves the Luciferousus.
Escorted by the Priest on the left, and the priestess on the right, the Guardian “flies” to the east. The three of them “fly” three turns in place: there, he will chant:
A Witch I am, a Witch I’ll be
born in every rock and tree
Fire, Water, Air and Earth
Have witnessed to this Witch’s birth.
“Fly” to the north. There, fly three and three quarters in place, so that we finish facing the north. Exchange lights with the Quarter Master. The guardian will form the Shield gesture with the left-hand, lift up the Luciferousus with the other:
To the north, call we, beasts of the Earth.
You’ve witnessed to this Witch’s birth.
I do summon you to rise out of the mounds to guard and guide this rite.
Join our dance, we will it so.
“Fly” to the west. There, fly three and three quarters in place, so that we finish facing the west. Exchange lights with the Quarter Master. The guardian will form the cup gesture with the left-hand, lift up the Luciferousus with the other:
To the West, we call, masters of Water.
You are witness to these Witch’s who gather.
I summon you to rise out of the depth.
Guard and guide this rite. Join our dance, we will it so.
“Fly” to the south. There, fly three and three quarters in place, so that we finish facing the south. Exchange lights with the Quarter Master. The guardian will form the club gesture with the left-hand, lift up the Luciferousus with the other:
To the south we call, titans of Fire.
You are witness to these Witch’s passions.
I summon you to rise out of the hearths.
Guard and guide this rite. Join our dance, we will it so.
“Fly” to the East. There, fly three and three quarters in place, so that we finish facing the East. Exchange lights with the Quarter Master. The guardian will form the Sword gesture with the left-hand, lift up the Luciferousus with the other:
To the East we call, Gods of Air.
You are witness as these Witches share.
I summon you out of the heights.
Guard and guide this rite. Join our dance, we will it so.
The Priest faces south, and the Priestess faces north. They will have their unlit candles in their hands. Together they will chant this, with the priest speaking the first part of a slashed phrase, the Priestess speaking the second.
Behold! I am the Light/Shadow.
I am the end/start of all.
Split a piece of wood, and I am there.
Lift up a stone, I am there.
Listen to a babbling brook/babe, I am there.
I am the last/first, I am all.
Priest:
Look at what I do, I make light!
Priestess:
And Shadow is created.
Priest:
Look at what I do, I make health and life.
Priestess
And we discover illness and death.
Priest:
I am the whirlwind
Priestess:
I am the Sea.
Priest:
I am the Sky.
Priestess:
I am the Hill.
Together:
I am the life/death of all. I am God!
The Guardian will say:
Be pleased, my Lord, be pleased, my Lady,
to grace this temple with your presence.
We have not made it of stone, nor have we made it of wood,
We have made it of flesh and spirit.
Be pleased, your grace, to let us be gods with you for a time.
The priests will turn in place, to their left, and face each other. They will stand a pace from each other, holding the wicks of their candles together. Together they will say:
I am pleased to be with you, my children.
It is for some good that I have esteemed the children of God as excellent.
They will, together, touch their wicks to the lucifer until both are lit and ready. The Guardian will then declare:
Behold, Masters, Heaven is now here.
Be mindful, for God is always with us.
The Priests, who are now the vessels of God, will hand their candles to the Valets, who will set them into their places.
