This cleansing of the elements serves to focus and purify the elements of the Phantoms. Traditionally, all blessings are done with earth banishing pentagraphs. It may be that elemental “invoking” pentagraphs are more appropriate. Each token represents the elemental and ought to be fully infused by the spirit of that element.
The Phallus, a representation of Masculine energies, is used to work the feminine elements of Earth and Water. The Athamé will work the masculine elements of Air and Fire.
My preferred recipe for elemental cleansing incense is:
These three in equal measure cleanse and balance a Temple rather well, I think.
According to The Complete ArtScroll Siddur the Rabbis taught how the temple incense mixture is formulated. Thee-hundred sixty-eight meneh(1) were in it: three-hundred sixty-five corresponding to the days of the solar year — a meneh for each day, half in the morning and half in the afternoon. Three extra meneh the Kohen Gadol(2) would bring both his handfuls into the Holy of Holies on Yom Kippur(3). He would return them to the mortar on the day before Yom Kippur, and grind them very thoroughly so that it would be exceptionally fine. Eleven kinds of spices were in it, as follows:
1. About 20 ounces.
2. High Priest
3. Day of Atonement.
each weighing seventy maneh;
each weighing sixteen maneh;
Additionally, carshina lye, nine kabin(4); Cyprus wine(5), three xe’in and three kabin. Sodom salt, a quarter-kabin; and a minute amount of Maaley Ashan(6).
4. One qab is about forty fluid ounces. Six qab is one xe’in
5. Old white wine may substitute.
6. A smoke rising herb. cases the smoke of the inces to ascend straight as a pillar.

Note: Salt will dissolve just as quickly in cold water as it will in warm. The vector that accelerates this dissolution best is the surface area of the Salt. The finer the Salt, the faster it will dissolve. The most refined salt is popcorn salt.
Set the caldron of water upon the Pentacle. With the phallus, sketch three water invoking pentacles over the water. Then chant:
Blessings upon you, oh creature of Water.
Now, you are pure, and free from the phantasm.
Now, serve us in this temple, and bid our will supreme.
As our will, ¡So mote it be!
Set the water aside. Place the salt (3 doses) upon the Pentacle. Sketch three earth invoking pentacles over the salt with the phallus. Then chant:
Greetings, oh Mother of Earth.
You, who are free, and pure by nature.
Serve us now, in our temple.
Bid our will supreme.
As our will, ¡So mote it be!
Place the salt into the water. Stir left-handed with the phallus:
We have married the ways of Earth and Water,
noble creatures in their own ways.
Now, you may serve us in this rite,
and ever in your day.
Pass the holy water with the phallus to the priest. He will then sprinkle the water upon the Priestess, the Guardian, then the circle. He will ensure that he also sprinkles the Temple and the Quarter Masters. During this, he will chant:
Water and Salt, the cursed shall halt,
and leave this world of lore.
Salt and water, the ill will falter,
and be lost, e’er the rite is over.
Repeat, until all is blessed.
Set the censer upon the Pentacle. Ensure that the charcoal is adequate, and add what we need. With the Athamé sketch three fire invoking pentacles over the fire. Then chant:
Greetings, oh Father of Fire,
always free, and pure by nature.
Serve us now, in our temple.
Bid our will supreme.
As our will, ¡So mote it be!
Place the crucible aside.
Set the incense upon the Pentacle. Sketch three air invoking pentacles over the incense. Then chant:
Blessings upon you, oh creature of air.
Now, you are pure,
and free from the phantasm.
Now, serve us in our Temple.
Bid our will supreme.
As our will, ¡So mote it be!
Place the incense into the brazier. With the Athamé, inscribe three earth banishing pentacles. Chanting:
We have married the ways of air and fire,
noble creatures in their own way.
Now, you can serve us in this rite,
and ever in your day.
Give the crucible and Athamé to the Priestess, who will fume the Priest, fume the Guardian, fume the circle, making sure to fume the Temple and the Quarter Masters. She will chant:
Fire and Air, our life is fair,
enter this world of lore.
Air and fire, lift us higher,
wax strong as this rite is over.
