    • The most remarkable thing about Devil's Dare are the lurid colours and the devil leering at you from the backglass - evil! It's hard to think of any other Gottlieb pin that looks as dramtic and outrageous as this one. It's not a safe, conservative looking game at all. It's guaranteed to offend some people: it's the pinball equivalent of the Sex Pistols' "Never Mind the Bollocks" album cover (although that was 5 years earlier). What the hell happened at Gottlieb to allow this Doug Watson artwork to see the light of day? It's fresh! It's controversial! It's stunning!

Devil's Dare was the first System 80A Series game, which heralded the arrival of 7-digit score displays and more advanced book-keeping features. Many exported games had the sounds only board fitted, whilst the sound/speech version steals a few tunes from Haunted House. The key feature though is the "Multi-mode", whereby any player who achieves a set score during multi-ball, receives an additional period of multi-ball play as a reward.
