The boat was very civilised it even had an on board public baths.... YES BUT we arrived in Fukuoka at 5am and they don't permit you to leave the boat until 8am..Then I found the Yamakasa festival had finished. The big race had been at 5am ..but I had missed it...such is life.
you see this I didn't

photos from http://fukuokaguide.com/ and http://www.japanvisitor.com

saw the runners walking around in their buttock exposing loincloths went to the folk museum and saw the video, saw some temples.. japanese culture shock.. wow its so expensive still (you need a $100 a day, I' have to hitch and camp)

Monsoon rain decided to begin to travel south.
Crazy Hitching The plan was to hitch south sleep and hitch the rest in the morning. But by night cos of rain and difficulties finding a place to begin to hitch I was still in Fukuoka.. 2 things 1 I know Japan is crazy and 2 I knew overnight trucks were going to Miyazaki. So I decided to be crazy and hitch in the dark..and quickly I got a ride ...to Kagoshima ! the wrong place

It was early morning so I grabbed a little sleep before taking the train to hitch to Miyazaki. Some difficulty but then I was on the road. LuckyGot a ride with an Ecology expert and international lecturer Hideki all the way to the house...
