Some more Diary stuff from days gone by...

January 7, 2001

Ooops. A whole month since I last wrote. The reason - too much partying and preparation for Christmas and New Year. It seemed like one long, alcoholic blur, which always makes the event itself something of an anti-climax.

Christmas was spent at the family's. Saw my niece, Rebecca, for the first time! Wonderfully cute and hopefully will have a pic of her on here soon. New Year was less fab - rather disappointing really but then I'm never a big fan of it anyway.

The one thing I do like about Christmas is catching up with lots of people, so managed to see loads of friends - apart from James who is thousands of miles away ... miss him ... and Jamie and Brian out in Oz for the month and Pete and co over in the far east!

New year, new me. Gonna get fit, fall in love and enjoy life in 2001.

December 8, 2000

The web site I have been working on for 40 million years and which has been the cause of me working silly hours has now launched! Hurrah... you can see it at www.icshowbiz.com I just hope it's been worth all the aggravation.

The work continued to cramp my style on the social life thing but hopefully, with going back to normal hours and getting time off, I can start getting my life back in order.

Of course, I still have all my Christmas shopping to do cos I haven't even thought about that yet! And then there is catching up with friends to think about before we all pile off back to the folks for December 25.

I had a lovely night out with James on Wednesday. What a guy! LOL.

November 25, 2000

Not much to report this week - I have been so busy at work working all hours and having no life! I can't wait till our web site is launched and all the staff are in place so I can have a few days to myself and recharge very worn batteries.

We, ironically, had a launch party for our web site on Thursday. No site but lots of free booze and I ended up dancing until 2am and getting rather plastered. I apparently did something unmentionable with an empty beer bottle at one point but have little recollection of the fact!

I have been working this weekend but last night went out with American Michael - good night too even if I stayed out longer than I should. Managed to avoid going clubbing this week though! This week I am gonna make sure I have some "quality" time - awful term but it sums it up - in the gym and spa!

November 18, 2000

Well all, I am an uncle! My little brother Peter and his wife Karen had a girl yesterday. Bit of a whopper too at 9lbs or so. Wouldn't have wanted to squeeze that one out thanks!

Gosh, the last few weeks have been one manic blur. I don't think I've worked so hard or long in my life and rarely get time to sit back and relax, write e-mails or relax at home in front of the TV. It's gonna be bad for a few weeks yet too but I hope to squeeze a few hours off here and there.

I worked this weekend but went out for a few beers with American Michael last night and we ended up at GAY dancing until the very early hours. Sheena Easton (of distant memory) was doing a show for her comeback. Bonkers! Got a bit drunk, leapt around too much and felt like crap this morning.

I've met up a few times with Emma and Pete, Aaron, Jamie and Brian and co. John, my flatmate, has gone off to Miami with his girlfriend for the week (her dad lives there) while I sit in the rain and cold! Lovely country this...

Now reading a fab Libby Holman book...

November 4, 2000

Well, since my last missive, I have turned 37. As one of my work colleagues so kindly put it, another step nearer the grave. Such a charmer! I actually celebrated a week ago last Thursday at The Yard and the tacky Escape bar in Soho. A good crowd turned up and for the first time it meant my different circles of friends came together, which was great! They could all see who I was talking about. I, of course, got very pissed as we were out until gone 2am. I went into work the next day still feeling rather drunk. Got some lovely cards and presents though.

The day itself was a Monday and was all rather quiet - or should've been - as I only went out with Jamie and American Michael. But Michael did what he is good at and dragged me off to Heaven, where we got free drinks cos of the birthday. Oh dear! Anyway, he got off with someone and I got a cab home in the early hours.

Work has been bonkers as usual. I have worked non stop for a fortnight and only have today off cos the system is down for the day and we could do no work. I can't wait for it all to end. On top of that, I still can't shake the wretched cold. It just drags on and is driving me bloody mad.

October 22, 2000

I rounded off a fairly glum week with a bonkers Friday night of clubbing in town. Hadn't been to The Gallery at Turnmills for months and months so it was great to get down there with Pete, Saj, Aaron, John, Sam, Bev and co. Michael came along too after I met him at Manto for a beer. And we all got off our tits to Tall Paul, Judge Jules and the wonderful Steve Lee. Non-stop dancing until 6am! And that pretty much wiped the weekend out apart from a trip to the gym this afternoon.

Apart from that the week was a bit dull - went to the gym and did aqua aerobics a few times. Work is really horrendous at the moment with so much to do and I really don't know how we are gonna get it all done in time. Felt a bit lonely early this week too - something to do with the birthday coming up and getting yet another year older. Oh well, will "celebrate" it anyway with what will hopefully be a good crowd.

So I get back from my lovely holiday and what happens? I go down with the most horrid illness that put me out of action for days - could barely function with gammy throat, back, legs, sweats and so on. So the trip to Italy clearly did me good...

Apart from that I've been so busy at work getting ready to launch a new web site, plus me and flatmate John have been busy putting the furniture together in the house. Hurrah! I am now the proud owner of wardrobes etc and so don't have to live out of boxes and bin liners any more. I can't tell you the relief I feel!

I met up with the holiday crowd for a night of bonkers clubbing at Heaven in London. Great night too, from what I can remember of it, of drinking and dancing like a lunatic. Bed at 7am then up at noon for a trip to Ikea - yes, grim I know.

By the way, found this pic from when I was up in Durham earlier this year so thought I would scan it in...

September 19, 2000

Wow! I have just got back from a week's holiday in Italy and feel absolutely fab about it. I went with four great people - Bev, Mark and Roddy and my ex-flattie Peter and we stayed in this fab little marina/village some way south of Naples. OK, the weather was crap the first weekend but then it got nice, hot and sunny, which was great for lounging around on the beach and getting a tan.

We spent three days drifting along the coast in a hired boat - and caused chaos in our wake - and ate and drank like kings for next to nothing. The great thing was, we met some great locals - young guys and girls who took us to heart and shared the local goodies with us. Not being a touristy place, we felt real special!

The last day we spent in Naples, which I certainly don't recommend. Far too run down and Third World-like.

I love holidays and this one was special, even though I barely knew three of the people I went with. We got on wonderfully and had truly special times together and I feel a bit emotional about this week and not being around them. Now it is back to work, reality, pouring rain and London.

August 30, 2000

Well, after several months of being stuck out in the suburbs I am finally back in London. Moved in to this lovely new house owned by my friend John over the bank holiday weekend. Lots of grunting and groaning with boxes and sacks - with the aid of dad - but now it's all done. Still waiting for any form of furniture to arrive but that's not far off now (famous last words).

Apart from moving, the weekend was really wild! Friday night I went out for a beer with my friend Rob and we ended up in this club called GAY. All very tacky but great fun. Only trouble was getting back to the sticks at the end of the night! Saturday was as bonkers. Went to a house party hosted by a couple of the guys I am going on holiday with and it was all done with the greatest possible excess! Felt lousy on Sunday - and I had to work.

Last week I also went up on London's newest landmark - the London Eye. It's a bloody great big wheel by the Thames and it takes you 450ft up to give great views of our fine city. If you ever get the chance to do it - go!

August 21, 2000

Bloody 'ell vicar. Sorry about the delay but I've had dreadful problems accessing me server - far too dull to describe but my failure to update has had nothing to do with laziness on my part.

The past month has been something of a blur - a lot of working strange hours, far too much drinking and partying and not enough sleep. Had to take a day off cos I was falling asleep at the desk. Part of it is cos I have still been stuck down in Caterham with dad and that involves getting up early and - if I'm out in town - getting home too late. Good news is that I should be moving back into London this weekend coming. Hurrah with knobs on.

Great news is that I am off on holiday to the beautiful Amalfi coast in Italy in September with several great people so looking forward to relaxing, seeing the sites (Pompeii etc) and partying.

Can't write much more cos I've completely forgotten the last month...ooops.

July 19, 2000

tit

I have been a very naughty boy in the last nine days or so - but I'm not gonna tell you what it is unless you send me a cheque for 10,000! Or you could e-mail me with your suspicions. Hehe...I love being a tease.

Summer arrived - for about three days anyway - but not in time to celebrate Angela's 30th birthday on Saturday. We all piled up to Kenwood House in Hampstead for an outdoor concert with Dame Kiri te Kanawa. It was freezing cold, we couldn't see anything and the group was split up cos of the crowds! All very strange but good to see the gang again.

Friday was a good one - doing the gay thing in the West End all day and night. And I have been living in Bermondsey, housesitting for a friend, so getting home has been no problem. Back to dad's again now, where I learn that another brother is gonna have a baby. I mean, can't they keep their legs closed?

July 10, 2000

I feel quite perky right now! Quite why i have no idea. I am even looking forward to going to the gym at the moment, which is either a sign of mental illness or a reflection on a sad life!

I have been working non-stop of late too, spending the weekend training someone who has absolutely no abilility for the job at all. It turned me to drink on Saturday night - I met up with Kate and Danny from Bristol along with Ange, John and Emma in Clapham.

The move back to London is a few weeks off still because of furniture issues. However, being back with the folks is helping me pay off my monumental credit card bills.

Weather is crap. Still no sign of summer - just cold and rain. I am fed up with being moist all over...

July 3, 2000

Oh well, a few weeks have gone past since my last gossip. Fortnight of ups and downs - too much bleedin' work right now. This weekend was Pride - or Mardi Gras as the organisers like to call it in their bid to make huge amounts out of the Pink Pound.

We did the march and went to the festival at Finsbury Park, where we got drenched in a downpour. Rather put the dampers on things in all. Pride seems to have lost something these last few years - maybe its the commercialism or the fact that Finsbury Park is such a stinking shithole! Or that people seem scared of being political and telling the government to get their fucking act together.

Bit out of a downer on the love life front after that - but, hey! No surprises there for regular readers!! Pull meself up by the bootstraps and start again...

Otherwise, it's been the gym. Went out for a drink with school friends on Wednesday but not a huge session. Nice funky launch party to look forward to on Thursday for gay365.com...

June 18, 2000

Well, would you believe it. Summer has arrived in London - brilliant sunshine and fab temperatures. It's enough to make me want to rip me knickers off and throw them in the air. I am working this weekend but have managed to grab some time out in the local park in a bid to do something about my white skin...

Had a great night out with Mark last night in town. We had hoped to see Kylie Minogue at GAY but couldn't get any advance tickets and the queue at the club went round the block and back. So we ended up at The Phoenix - a nice little gay club off the beaten track. Had a dance, got sweaty and loved every minute of it...Earlier in the week Mark and I had a meal out in town, which was nice.

Had to see the doc on Friday - got some throat infection and so am on the antibiotics. Otherwise, a fairly quiet week... And now I am off to bask in our two-day summer and get a bit moist!

June 13, 2000

Oh wow! I went to see Mamma Mia in the West End last night - thanks to Jamie and his free tickets! If you don't know anything about it, it's a musical featuring a wealth of fab Abba songs. All very tacky but huge fun. I only just managed it too cos I had a nasty virus on Sunday that kept me awake all night and forced me to take the day off work. Feel OK now.

Feel quite proud of meself cos I went to the gym five times last week...not that you would know by looking at me body! Oh well. Just think what I'd be like if I didn't go through with it...

Had a great night with Mark on Friday at Kazbar in Clapham on Friday, only ruined by the fact that I had to work Saturday.

And John rang me this week to say I can move in to his place at the beginning of July...London here I come (again)!

June 7, 2000

Getting to the end of a long stint at work today and looking forward to two days off! It's been a really hectic time too! My former flatmate had his birthday meal and drink on Friday and we all got completely wrecked and hungover. Didn't get to bed until gone 5am and I had to be in work at lunchtime on Saturday!

I've been meeting up with other friends too for beers and gossip, which has been nice. And it means I've rarely been back at dad's in Caterham - especially as I have been trying to increase my workouts at the gym. I discovered this week that I have put on a bit too much weight lately! Ooops...too much lager, too many Big Macs...

I hope I get some sunshine on my days off so I can take advantage of dad's garden. The weather so far this summer has been utterly crap and cold. Give me sun!

May 30, 2000

Well, I have moved out of the flat in Tooting with a heavy heart and am now ensconced with dad down in deepest Surrey. It's all very quiet and takes me ages to get in to work. Will probably be there for a few weeks until I sort myself out with somewhere new, hopefully back in Tooting! Watch this space...

After the stress and hard work of the move, I went out on Saturday night to celebrate Mark's birthday at a rather naff Mexican restaurant in Clapham. Sunday was spent chilling at John's, where I got hooked on Dawson's Creek! Yesterday - a public holiday - I went to mum's and did some minor gardening...all a bit too much like hard work for me.

Last week I went out a few times and saw the film Gladiator - rather good despite all the hype and brilliantly done.

May 22, 2000

Gosh, there are Montgomery Clift fans everywhere! I have been chatting to and mailing friends from as far afield as Japan, Mexico and Oregon in the last week or so...We are more numerous than you might think!

Got a big pay packet last week so have been out and about a lot, culminating in Jamie's Fantasy Eurovision Song Contest Party on Saturday night. I represented Slovenia and, in an extremely tight finish, finished second to Norway. Jamie and his partner Brian did a marvellous job and we all had a real laugh, followed by drinks and dancing to the campest songs around.

Friday night I went out with some friends to a bar in Clapham and had a marvellous meal. Earlier in the week I caught up with the film Trick, which was a nice, feel-good, witty little movie.

Went to the gym a few times too but my colleague Tracy dragged me to a hips and thighs class on Monday and it's taken a week to recover. Oh, the stiffness!! I looked like an old man limping around the streets of London.

Last week in London too for a while. Going to stay with dad while I sort my accommodations out so it's gonna be a busy week of packing up and cleaning...yawn.

May 15, 2000

Oh, what marvellous weather we've had again! It's been absolutely fabarama and long may it last. On the other hand, the flat-hunting arrangements fell through so, with little time left in Tooting, I have decided to go back to the bosom of the family in Surrey for a while. Then I can decide what I want to do with the benefit of time.

Went to a Eurovision Song Contest gathering at Jamie and Brian's on Saturday night. Dismal performance by us Brits and, much to everyone's surprise, Denmark romped home. Drank a fair bit, particularly Jamie, but had a laugh. Next Saturday is his Fantasy Eurovision competition in which I will be representing Slovenia! Oooohhhh errrrr...

Managed to catch up with brother and sister-in-law in London on Friday before heading off to Stuart's birthday do but was rather short of money so that rather limited the partying. Hey ho...I will make up for it this week! Must go to the gym too cos I have been neglecting that badly!

May 8, 2000

What a fab weekend we had in London - beautiful warm and sunny weather. Shame that I couldn't really enjoy it cos of the flat-hunting nightmare. Yes, it drags on. I am getting a bit worried now cos it's only three weeks before we have to quit the flat.

Can't believe I'm still doing this at my age - going from one place to another every year or so. Really is quite depressing...

Not much to report from the rest of the week. Had a beer on Friday night with Jamie, while on Thursday I went out with the friends from school for far too many drinks. Met Wendy and Christine for the first time since we were in school, which was rather fun! Felt shit on Friday...

May 1, 2000

Oh dear, me hormones are all over the place this weekend. So if anyone wants to take me home and do wonderfully raunchy things with me then feel free.

Another public holiday today and I am working. Outside in London there's a big protest by environmentalists, anarchists and human rights campaigners and it's fab! I love people who stick two fingers up at the establishment...

This weekend is a lot about saying goodbye to Kate and Danny. They are moving to Bristol to escape the madness of London and it's all a bit sad. I met Kate (and Emma and co) when she asked me for a light at a bar in Clapham some years back and we just got chatting and all became good friends! I love that and now it is all coming to an end. I'm a bit sad about it...

The other big thing this week is flat hunting. A tedious and awful chore but by the next public holiday I will be out of Tooting so have to get my bottom in gear! Hey ho...

April 24, 2000

blob So it is Easter - oh deep joy. Being an atheist, it all means sod all to me apart from the public holidays - but I am working them anyway and taking the time off when the weather is better. As I write we are having a thunderstorm - the only bang I'm gonna get this weekend by the look of it too!

It's been an up and down week all round. I was shouting quite a bit in the office - and it takes a lot to get me like that. Perhaps it's the giving up smoking gag... And then I had a bit of emotional turmoil to deal with too.

Went out with Jamie, his hubby Brian and Thorsten to Soho on Tuesday night, which was nice. Hit the Two Brewers on Friday evening but that was about it really. Oh well, must get on. I've got the rest of this tedious weekend to look forward to!

The picture shows me and some work colleagues and a beautiful bottle of Smirnoff Ice!

April 17, 2000

Weird coincidences number 345...I went out for a quick drink with a friend on Friday evening before wandering into a bar in town to read the paper - and bumped into a work colleague from a few years back! Wendy was out with her flatmate and the three of us ended up in a couple of funky gay clubs - Shinky Shonky and Popstarz.

Popstarz is good fun, a really friendly night out at The Scala in Kings Cross with indie, trashy disco, Brit pop-type music. Once that had finished, it was off to Balans in Soho for a big fry-up and home for 7am. Wiped my Saturday out. Sunday I managed to get to the gym for the first time in a fortnight.

On Tuesday I managed to get out with Jamie for a few beers, which was nice. Then my company managed to screw up the payroll so I didn't get my promised pay rise. More belt tightening this month then! The weather has been really crap this last week and I desperately need spring and a bit of sunshine.
