Imbolic is celebrated on February 2 in honor of the Goddess Bright and all virgin & maiden Goddess with a festival of lights, in the time of the awakening for Mother Earth and all her inhabitants from the cold of winter, it is a slip into the rebirthing process for renewing of plants and animals. Imbolic is also a time to celebrate the coming of Spring with a festival of lights. Candles are burned in every room of the house to honor the rebirth of the sun and it's everlasting energy. One of my more favorite festivities of this day, is the besom (broom) where a ritual sweeping of the home is done to push out the old, the besom is placed at the front door for the rest of the day to let in the new, (kinda like spring cleaning)
