Andon Zako Çajupi

 

 

Andon Zako Cajupi is another great writer of the Renaissance period. He was born in 1866 in Gjirokaster. When he was only 15 he went in Egypt to study in a french college. After he finished school he went in Geneva to study law and justice where he became a lloyer. He went again in Egypt where the Albanian national movement was renewed. There he began writing his play-wrights. His well-known play-wrights have been played many times in Albania. "14 years old bridegroom" was his best book. There he attacked prematurial weddings and other old and patriarchal customs. His verses against men's power over women have become an anthem for albanians. He was very talented in poetry. He wrote with patriotic ideals trying to raise albanians in war against the invador. He predicted a national union out of religional differences Muslims and christians ,we feel bad Raise yourself, everyone,teen and old But fortunately he was alive when Albania was free and he enjoyed this moment of history.He died in 1930 in Egypt but his grave is in his native country.
