The Somers Historical Society offers free cultural and educational programs, as well as, guided tours of the historic sites and properties in the Town of Somers. The Society collects and archives a collection of materials related to local history and early development of the Early American Circus. The Museum of the American Circus is run by the Society with the assistance of a curator and is located on the third floor of the circa 1825 Elephant Hotel at Routes 202 and 100. The Museum of the American Circus is open to the public on community event days like Memorial Day and on: Thursdays , 2 pm - 4 pm Or by appointment The exhibits are comprised of items from the permanent collection, as well as changing exhibits. Permanent collection exhibits are generally found on the third floor of the Elephant Hotel, while changing exhibits can be found both on the third floor and the first floor of the Hotel. |
