| Tomahawk Chapel Tom Miller, a local farmer, built this small church in 1837 on a 1/2 acre plot that was deeded by the Putney family. Hachaliah Bailey is reported to have made this comment, "Tom Miller is building a church no bigger than a tiger's cage." [Source: Somers Its People and Places, Somers Historical Society, 1989] |
| Wright-Reis Homestead It is estimated that the farmhouse was built around 1850 by a person who was not a member of the Wright family. Carrie Wright Reis was the last occupant and deeded the house and surrounding land, which includes Reis Park, to the Town upon her death in 1967 for educational & recreational purposes. The site contains a main dwelling, built about 1860, and numerous outbuiodings and barns. The main dwelling is a house museum which is open each July 4th, and by appointment."
