Thank you and keep coming back!
Recently while surfing the web for relevant information on addiction recovery, I was intrigued by this statement / slogan , "nice people take drugs". Yes, nice people do take drugs and drink alcohol. It isn't the person, drug, or the alcohol that is bad, it's the effect upon some abuser's and the attitude towards others that complicate this issue; not to mention, the legal ramifications. I can understand the educational value in this campaign, but will younger and more impressionable people be able to distinguish the hazards of taking this slogan irrationally? After all, this certainly could be a fence riding slogan; i.e., "it's ok to take drugs and drink alcohol", or "education and social input are needed to stop the abuse of such substances", etc. Health issues of course are of concern. HBV, HCV and AIDS are issues amoung IV users in unhealthy hiding places, and then there are the issues of cannabis legalization.
What are your opinions? Is this the way to gain recognition and begin to help in the abuse of drugs and alcohol, or is it a vehicle to bring this abuse to legal standards and have our governments involved with enforcement from another angle? Certainly this brings an arguement to light; and I must say, in my opinion it is confusing to say the least.

This campaign has originated in the UK, but this doesn't mean it ends there! Issues of this nature are world-wide and education is key to establish a means of communication and alternatives to drug & alcohol abuse and the lives it takes or affects. Please consider your thoughts as an important input to this and all issues with substance abuse today!
Are there enough effective treatment resources available to handle this problem? Drug awareness and knowledge is very important, and it is normally the first step to take in preventing drug addiction. But, when prevention fails, drug rehabilitation is required.
