Now you know if a guy is grossed out about something a girl is doing, then it must be pretty bad. I knew Melina wanted a picture with Johnny so I took out my camera. "Jonny", I said. "Can we get a picture with you?" "No can I get a picture with you." he said. "Sure," I said. Then he said, "Yeah for $5." I said, "I got $2." and he said, "I�m just kidding." and I said, "Yeah I know." He got between Melina and I and was like, "I�m big pimpin like Jay-Z." Then he looked at me and said, �Is that a Kittie shirt?� he was referring to my red Split shirt which had a cat on it. I said, �No it�s a Split shirt.� And he said, �Oh OK.� Andre took the picture for us. Then Jonny told us not to be groupies, like the whore backstage. We told him that he wouldn't have to worry about that. Then he told us that there were two kinds of groupies; the classy ones who look nice. The ones that you wouldn't know are groupies. Then there were ones like that blonde girl backstage who will do anything. Jonny told us that the last time they played at ground zero, that same girl hooked up with Spineshank's drum tech. What a skank. Then Andre got called over by Boiler Room's guitar player and Jonny dropped his drink and went somewhere else. So we decided that we should probably leave. On our way out however, we ran into Mark Hunter, lead singer of Chimaira. To my surprise Melina actually went up to him and started talking to him. She never does that so I was really surprised. Anyway, Mark was just cool as shit. He was just talking to us about all sorts of stuff. Chimaira is from Ohio. He was telling us that his mom had left a message on his phone and was like, "Oh you guys are getting press here. I heard you were opening up for Soulfly, that's great!" and he was like, "Mom you don't even know who Soulfly is." I thought that was funny cause that sounds like something I would say to my mom. He was by himself, away from all of the backstage action. he said that he wasn't really into the partying scene. HE said when he's at home, he's just on his computer all the time. He said that he really missed his girlfriend and that she missed him too. We thought that was sweet. We talked a little about Soulfly. A few years ago his friends and him followed Soulfly around to a lot of shows. at the last show they were at, he finally got to meet max. Melina told him that him that I�m dying to meet max. and so he said that if they ever tour with them, he'd help us meet him, which I thought was really cool. He was also telling us about different responses they�ve gotten around the country. Apparently they're really huge in Maine which is just kind of odd but whatever. Melina commented on how weird it was that people knew their stuff and Mark found that pretty weird too, since they don't even have a full length album out and aren't signed to any label. But they're gonna be huge, I can already tell. Anyway, while we were talking to Mark, the other guys in Chimaira were kinda off to the side just staring at us. I don't know why they didn't come over and join the conversation. they were probably wondering, "Who are those two girls talking to Mark?" Anyway, Andre told us that he had to go, but said that he'd see us the next night. Then we figured that we should get going too. Mark asked our names, "Shaliza and Melina" we said. He was like, "whoa!" and we were like, "Yeah, not your typical everyday names." Then he said, "Well, Amy, Susan, see you tomorrow." That's when the other guys came over. I shook the bass player's hand, and waved goodbye to the DJ. Damn he's hot. That was it for the first night... |
