Mentoring Program News Flash:
Here's the bad news: We had far more prospective mentees than we had mentors. Though every attempt was made to find a match for everyone interested in participating, this just was not possible. Those pairs that we did make will be hearing from us soon. Sorry to all those who had hoped to participate but couldn't.
Mentors: After you are given the name of your mentee, please contact that student as soon as possible so we can get this program off to a successful start!
LETS FACE IT...nursing school is rough, expensive, time-consuming, frustrating...did we leave anything out? The student mentoring program was designed to provide interested students with an upperclassman
willing to serve as a support person, one who can understand just what you're going through. Your mentor can provide you with the inside scoop on clinicals, instructors, books, etc., and can just be there when you need to vent (about those same clinicals, instructors, books, etc.).
If you'd like to be matched with a mentor, please fill out the form on this page and indicate any special circumstances in you life in the comments section (i.e. commuting, parenting, etc.) so that we can match you up with a mentor that's on roughly the same playing field.
This is a great opportunity! Take advantage of it.

Periodically, we will hold get-togethers, for mentor/mentee pairs. Check the happenings page often for the latest scheduled events.

Be A Mentor...Make A Friend
Remember your first test-out? Your first care plan? How about your first day of clinicals? If you remember all those times, you undoubtedly remember the nervousness, uncertainty, and frustration that went along with all those experiences. Wouldn't it have been nice to have someone that understood just what you were going through? Now you can be that person for an underclassman.
Students in semesters 5,6,7, and 8 are eligible to serve as student mentors. You have a lot to offer another student - your time, encouragement, advice. This is
a great opportunity for you to make a small but significant difference in someone's life. You'll get to pass on all those gems of wisdom gained through experience. At the very least, you'll get the opportunity to make a new friend.
If you've decided you'd like to participate in this program as a mentor to an underclassman, please fill out the form on this page. Indicate any special talents you have so that we can make good matches between mentors and mentees (i.e. do you have superb study skills? are you a full-time student and full-time parent? etc.). |
