Everyone has secrets, do they not?

I do not believe that the question is whether or not people have secrets,
but whether or not people realize what those secrets can do.

Secrets burn ...
they are a fire raging in the soul ...
and no one knows what they are but the one holding them.

It is exhilerating to know that you have something that no one else does;
to be able to lead people away from the truth, away from the secret.

But secrets are dangerous.
They can shake a foundation right from the roots,
ruining what took precious time to build.

But what does it matter?
Is it really important that you may lose a friend, a confidant?
Perhaps, but what does it matter in the whole realm of things?

What of the shame you will undoubtedly feel when your secret is out;
when everyone knows what you've done behind closed doors?
