Delicious Low Fat Desserts

40795 picture(NAPS)-Here's a sweet idea: Adding tasty desserts to your party menus while subtracting some of the fat. The two recipes on this page are made with two new products from SnackWell's. SnackWell's Caramel Delights Cookies and Mint Cr�me Cookies are the basis of these two mouth-watering recipes:

Marbled Mint Bark

Makes about 1-1/4 pounds

8 ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
6 ounces white chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 (6-ounce) package Snackwell's Mint Cr�me Cookies, coarsely chopped

  1. Melt semisweet chocolate in saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly; set aside.
  2. Melt white chocolate in separate saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly; set aside.
  3. Spread semisweet chocolate on a foil-lined or lightly greased baking sheet to form a 13 x 9-inch rectangle. Sprinkle with chopped cookies. Quickly drop spoonfuls of white chocolate over semisweet chocolate mixture and swirl through mixtures several times with knife to marble.
  4. Refrigerate until firm. Break into pieces. Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

Nutrition Information per 1-ounce serving: 139 calories, 2 g protein, 19 g carbohydrate, 8 g total fat, 4 g saturated fat, 2 mg cholesterol, 31 mg sodium.

Easy Caramel Coffeecake

Makes 12 servings
1 (181Ú4-ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 cup water
3/4 cup egg substitute
1/3 cup applesauce
1 (7-1/2-ounce) package Snackwell's Caramel Delights Cookies, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup fat-free caramel ice cream topping, warmed
1/4 cup fat-free fudge sauce, warmed

  1. Prepare yellow cake mix according to package directions using water, egg substitute and applesauce. Pour half the batter into lightly greased 9-inch tube or fluted tube pan.
  2. Sprinkle cookies over batter; top with remaining batter.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  4. Cool in pan 25 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.
  5. Drizzle caramel and fudge sauce over cake before serving.

Nutrition Information per serving: 306 calories, 5 g protein, 57 g carbohydrate, 7 g total fat, 1 g saturated fat, 1 mg cholesterol, 397 mg sodium, 1 g dietary fiber.
