What the devil was I doing in Hong Kong for Christmas and
New Years??!! A little of everything it would seem! Sightseeing, shopping,
eating, shopping, drinking, shopping, sleeping... and did I mention shopping?!
Actually there was surprisingly a lot more to Hong Kong than shopping but
never underestimate the power of shopping!!

The many high rises of Hong Kong are decorated
with elaborate Christmas lights throughout the holiday season!
The markets in Kowloon are fabulous. Entire
streets are dedicated to one product. Shopping is truly an experience in Hong
Kong!!
I seem to have taken a lot of pictures of
buildings... do you think it had something to do with the fact that I was
staying with a civil engineer and an architect?
HSBC! The Hang Sang Bank Corporation Headquarters!
I don't remember seeing any houses in Hong
Kong but I did see a lot of high rise apartment blocks...
Some where on Hong Kong Island...
All the scaffolding in Hong Kong is made
from bamboo...
Here is a building from colonial times...
however there were so many fairy lights on the building it was a bit difficult
to see the building itself!
It's a 'Ding Ding'! Riding on the trams in
Hong Kong is a must!
During my stay I was on a quest to find a
Junk. You can buy many a souvenir with a picture of a Junk... but can you
find one? Not on the water anyway... I could only find one in a museum!
Views from the Peak of Hong Kong! After the
scary cable car ride up the mountain... hold on to your seat is not just a
recommendation... you could almost see mainland China!
The largest, seated, bronze, outdoors stature of Buddha
in the world!
This 34m statue can be found outside Po Lin Monastery on
Lantau Isalnd.
It is quite a hike to the top but well worth
the journey!

I did learn how to say Happy New Year in
Cantonese... the rooftop BBQ was a lot of fun!! Thanks everyone for such a
