We woke up bright and early again, which kind of worked to our benefit.
We were ready for breakfast before 7:30 AM, but Mrs. Stevenson was already
prepared and had it ready! This morning featured fresh hot blueberry muffins
and quiche. As I'm not big quiche fan (and because "real men don't
eat quiche"), Mrs. Stevenson was kind enough to make me some eggs!
(She's amazing! I'm really going to miss these breakfasts!)
At breakfast, we met up with Bea and we introduced ourselves to Renee -
the hiker loner. Renee likes to travel the world and go hiking. You name
it and she's probably hiked it.
We rushed off to get the 9:40 ferry, but because of a small error in
reading the ferry schedule, we were on time for the 8:20 ferry. I considered
this to be a blessing in disguise, because we'd be able to spend more time in
Atlantic City!

So we drove straight to AC and parked in the garage at
Caesars.
I tried to
explain the dangers of gambling by proceeding to lose $40 in the slot
machines as Nataliya watched with an expression between shock and amusement.
Afterwards, as losing money does build up an appetite, we headed to the
Caesar's buffet. After we both overate, we walked it off a bit on the
boardwalk, once again passing lots of shops selling salt water taffy and
fudge. Nataliya finally bought some nutty cluster candy thing for her
coworker, Dena.
As we walked by one of those psychics, they asked us if we wanted our
fortunes told. Honestly, if they were true psychics, they'd know the
answer to their own question (no!) and wouldn't have asked to begin
with!
We walked into Bally's where I
proceeded to reiterate the problems of
gambling by throwing away another $100 on the roulette table. (Hey, I'm
not much of a gambler, but I try to look at it as moving the local economy
along with my unwilling contribution... )
We walked along the beach for a while and when we decided to try some
miniature golf, the rain started coming down. Figuring it was a sign not
to play I asked for my money back and walked away. Naturally, the rain
promptly stopped.
We then walked into an indoor mall that was built on a pier near Ceasar's.
We didn't buy anything, but entertained ourselves evaluating and putting
down pretty much all the pictures of the
Miss America
contestants in a
photograph display. If this is the "best" they could find in the
150,000,000+ women in this country, they obviously didn't look hard enough.
Then we went back to the car and drove home...
...only to stop off and visit our friend George in Highland Park! We hung out,
went for dinner at
Old Man Rafferty's,
and stuck around until the end of the
season premiere of
the Soprano's.
From that point, we drove back home as the screeching noises of
Celine Dion
threatened to drive me insane. I don't remember which song was the most
painful - they all sound the same to me! (okay - i
admit it - it's my cd... yes, i bought it...)
Finally home, we unloaded the car and went to sleep!
