We decided to explore the local shops, but most of them didn't open until 10
AM, so we just wandered around for a while. Once the stores started opening,
we pretty much wandered into every single shop, buying practically nothing.
The items in these shops are goofy country-style old-fashioned clothes and
little knick-knacks that you're supposed to hang in your home or display on a
table. There were spices and artwork, ceramic work and childrens' games.
The only place we both bought something was at the local puzzle shop, but that
was about it.
That took us until about noontime. (Hey, Lewes is a small town!)
We returned to the
B&B
and Mrs. Stevenson told us that her husband was
not successful in tracking down one of those books. Regardless, Mrs.
Stevenson told us that her son works at The Americana Hotel and he might be
able to get us a voucher for the coupon book. Her son wasn't in, but the
person who picked up the phone said they'd give us one anyway! What luck!
We thanked her and headed out to Rehoboth!
We drove to Rehoboth and stopped off at The Americana Hotel for the voucher.
Afterwards, we stopped off at the outlets to exchange the voucher for the
coupon book. Once that was done, we drove back and stopped off at a
chinese buffet place called "Peking Palace" in the Bay Shore Mall
for lunch. (Later I'd find out that this is one of the best
Chinese restaurants in the Cape May area as per NJ Monthly Magazine's
Readers Choice awards.)
Once our stomachs were engorged, we went to
Rehoboth Outlets.
However, we still didn't really buy anything. Oh sure, we spent hours
walking around each of the three outlet malls, walking into a third of
the 140+ stores, and sure - we bought a few things, but we
didn't hit any of the minimum purchases required to actually get any use from
the coupon book. By the end of the day, we were pretty exhausted and we
just went back to the
B&B
to rest for a little while. We flopped the book onto a nearby table and
rested...
But that rest was short-lived because it was getting late and we wanted to
get some dinner. We decided on going to the
The Lighthouse Restaurant.
The food here was much better than the one we had at
Irish Eyes, but this place
seemed to have more flying insects than customers! I would recommend
the food, but perhaps take-out would be preferred. Afterwards, we rushed
back into town to see if we could get some homemade ice cream for
dessert. Although Kings Ice Cream shop was supposed to close at 9 PM, it
was staying open until 10 PM so we were in luck. This place has been
around for over 100 years!

We ate our ice cream and headed back to the
B&B
for some sleep.
