The founding of Sri Murugan Centre ( SMC ) was inspired by EWRF, Tamil Language Society of University Malaya , and TYBC in the early 1980’s. Dr.M.Thambirajah presented his carefully planned vision through an inspirational speech delivered  on the 24^th of September 1982 in Lecture Hall D, University of  Malaya. 

   Deeply moved, 48 undergraduates commenced the educational journey in P.P.N Hostel designing and formulating the modular approach which became the essence of SMC’s educational guidance system. The year 1983 show the birth of 4 pioneer STPM classes in Sentul, Klang, Seremban and P.P.N Petaling Jaya. 

   Student population in our classes grew beyond our comprehension to the present 34,000  nation wide. Thousands graduated and they came back to struggle together and create  a new generation of middle class Indians. They traveled throughout the nation to realize our mission: the unison of education and religion.The blood and tears of the 48 graduates in 1982 will continue to inspire millions to come in to globalize the fundamental philosophy of SMC.
