Yay, Nephrite! Nephy-boy is my second favorite of the Shitennou. Makoto is my second favorite of the Senshi, so it works out well that they're together, ne? He makes the scene after Jadeite gets turned into a museum piece, and he quickly changes the energy-collecting scheme. Being *all* into that whole cosmic vibe, Nephy decides that the best way to collect energy is from one human at a time, as directed by the Heavens. Woohoo! For the sake of sheer coolness (at least in my opinion), he decides to pose as Maxfield Stanton (aka Sanjouin Masato), a rich, sports-car-drivin', creepy-mansion-livin' playboy. Apparently Maxfield has no hobbies other than... well, working for the Negaverse. Under this guise, Nephrite is able to go anywhere and steal energy from anyone. All is going fairly well for our auburn-haired friend, so he decides to change his job description a little. In what can only be described as a fit of excessive pride, Nephy sets about the task of fetching the ginzuishou. Bad idea? Oh yeah.

Nephrite's new "go-get-'em" attitude pisses of his fellow shitennou, Zoisite. Poor little Zoisite! He is the one assigned to find the ginzuishou, not Neph!! What's an evil king to do? Aha... why not kidnap that snarky little chicky ol' Nephy boy seems strangely fond of?! So that's what Zoisite, in his infinite... er... snit, I guess, decides to do. Nephrite, pissed at Zoi and his constant meddling and taunting, goes after Naru (Molly... no relation to my sister, who is heaps cuter and less annoying). Yes, he rescues her. Yes, he is wounded. Yes, he even smiles and laughs a little. But, my over-romantic friends, laughing does not equal true love. Sorry, Charlie. Anyway... Zoisite has these three nasty youma attack the pair, and despite Naru's best efforts, Nephrite ends up floating away in a cloud of pretty, colorful bubbles. Ok, I admit it... I got a little choked up when Nephrite bit it. I *am*, after all, a self-admitted (grudging admission though it was) sap. None of this, by the way, is in the manga. Neph comes up with this silly bride scheme, and Makoto is nearly gobbled up by Motoki (Andrew of arcade-boy fame)... or something... my brain hurts. Point being, Makoto finds out she's Sailor Jupiter and fries Nephy's arse. Ouch.

Now... how about Nephy *himself*? Why is he my second favorite? True, he is a bit of a grump. Once he even told Queen Beryl to "shut up and watch." Nelly!! His voice bugs the BEEGEEZUS outta me, but that's ok... his blue, blue eyes and (puffy) auburn hair make up for it. Though I don't share the belief that he was madly in love with Naru, I do think that she opened his eyes to how much he really did hate working for Beryl and having to put up with Zoisite's crap all the damn time. I know I couldn't handle it... I probably woulda gone 'round the twist quite a long time ago.
