Zoisite

The King of Europe
Well, I guess I'll get it over with and admit that Zoycite is definitely my least favorite of the four.  ::ducking rotten tomatoes::  Matte!!  At least let me explain *why*!!  See, I don't speak Japanse, so I've only seen the dub.  To me, Zoycite is an obnoxious, petty bitch (excuse the language).  Through reading what others have said about Zoisite, however, I've started to like him heaps more than I used to.  I guess it rubs off.  :)  Besides, you gotta feel at least a little sorry for Zoycite... a sex change operation *and* a new, crappy name spelling can't be any fun!!  (Now, you must be wondering why I spell the name in two different ways... Zoycite and Zoisite are two different people in my mind!  Zoycite is the one I dislike!)
Anyway, Zoisite was the third of the shitennou to make the scene, and he shows up at regular intervals to mock poor, doomed Nephrite.  Beryl also gives him the task of locating the ginziushou, which he accepts eagerly, only to have Nephrite step in and try to steal his thunder!

All worked up into a fine snit, Zoisite sicks his youma on Naru, the girl Nephrite has recently become strangely attached to.  Neph takes the bait, Zoi has him killed, happy day for Zoi!

Now here's my favorite part: Beryl then decides to give Zoisite the task of locating the rainbow crystals, or nijizuishou.  Upon locating the first of them, Zoisite is punched in the face by Makoto... before she even gets her Sailor Jupiter powers!!  Yeah, Mako-chan!!!

Zoisite's downfall comes when he crosses Beryl by trying to kill Tuxedo Kamen against her orders.  Beryl sets Zoisite on fire (common theme, I've noticed), and he begs Kunzite to let him "die pretty."  <sigh!!>  I have a WAV of this scene in the
Zoisite Pictures section.

In the manga, per usual, things are very different. Zoisite is attacking the Senshi when Sailor Venus shows up and he gets cuts to pieces.  Damn!!  Violence abounds.
Zoisite "dying pretty."  <sniffle>
Now there are things I *like* about Zoisite... and Zoycite, too, for that matter. First of all, I love the relationship with Kunzite.  They are so sweet together, and the way Zoisite just *worships* him... and how Kunzite doesn't seem like such a big nasty when he's around Zoi.  Kunzy teaches Zoi patience, while Zoi teaches Kunzy to be a little bit softer.  I think they go very well together.  In general I like the manga better than the anime, but this is one case where the anime is far superior.  The Dark Kingdom just isn't the same without this dynamic relationship.

Also, I love Zoisite's voice.  No, not Zoycite's... God, that laugh!!!  Zoisite's seiyuu (Nanba Keichii) is excellent, and all I've heard of him are a few WAVs!  Actually, speaking of the dub, Kirsten Bishop is SO MUCH better as Kaori than she EVER was as Zoycite or Emerald!!  I guess because Kaori never laughs.  :)

One thing... "Zoisite" is a damn hard name to type over and over.  "Zoycite" is heaps easier.  Hmmm.
