*Nick’s View*
I have an idea. Yeah it’s not a big surprise but it will be for them cause I don’t voice it that often. People usually beat me to it and say what they wanna do and take my idea away from me. So ya know. “Hey I don’t wanna sound like I wanna be a couch potato or anything but how about we just rent a movie and stay in.” But nobody bet me to it this time.
“That is a great idea Nicky.” Rachel assured me. We always did like each other’s ideas. It was gonna be cool having her back and on tour with us. Everyone else agreed.
“Hey guys.” So’Cy had reappeared. Looking better than before. I’m just kidding. “So what are we gonna do?”
“We’re gonna rent a movie and stay in.” Mary told her. She looked cute today.
“So whose gonna go get the movie?” Rachel said interrupting my thoughts. “I wanna drive my jeep so I wanna go. The question now is who wants to go with me?” She looked in AJ’s direction.
“I’ll go with ya.” I blurted out. Oops, I should of thought before I said something. I knew after I said it that I was not the one that she wanted to go with her. But hey, we’re friends and we haven’t talked in the longest. Plus I could get some information about Mary. And she had a jeep.
“Okay anybody else.” I knew that she was disappointed but she hid it very well. “Seeing no takers, c’mon Nick let’s go.” She said grabbing her car keys. We hopped into her yellow jeep, she had always talked about getting a jeep and she finally got it. She opened up the garage door and backed out. I was surprised that she got the jeep.
“Wow Rach, nice ride.” I was trying to start some conversation.
“Thanks Nicky.” She smiled. I could tell she was proud of her jeep.
“I’m sorry if I disappointed you, I know that you wanted AJ to come.” I tried to make her feel better.
“Don’t worry about it Nicky. It’s not that bad, now I can relax. I can’t relax around AJ.” I could tell that she really liked him. She wanted to get back with him.
“So what’s the 411 on Mary?” I asked on the downlow. Yeah the downlow.
“The 411?” She laughed. “Nick, what do you wanna know exactly?”
“Has she dated anyone since Brian?”
“She went on a couple of dates but nothing serious. She never went on a second date.” I was kinda happy to hear that it was nothing serious. There was nothing standing in my way.
“Ya know Rach, AJ has changed, he’s not the same.” I was trying to be slick about it too.
“Really?” She sounded interested. “What’s up with him anyway? He seems kinda scared or something.”
“I don’t know, maybe he doesn’t want to mess things up.” I wasn’t exactly sure why AJ hadn’t asked her out. He was usually confident enough to just do it. But something was different this time. Just then we pulled into the parking lot of some little video rental store.
“Okay we’re here.” We walked inside and stood there looking at different. I looked at Rachel holding two different movies. “We can go with your chick flick or we can do action? Of course there’s always comedy. What do you think everyone’s in the mood to watch?” Yeah we were the wrong people to send for renting videos.
“How about one action and one comedy. Cause I know that I don’t wanna watch a chick flick.” I knew she would get slightly angry but not enough to hate me or anything, just annoyed.
“Okay Nicky. No chick flick but there will be other times.” She said with a devilish grin on her face. “Hey Nick, I got an idea.”
“I’m all ears.” Like I had said before, she’s always full of good ideas.
“Instead of an action film how about a scary movie. Scary movie equals for some closeness from a certain girl.” She is full of good ideas.
“But I don’t think Mary is that type of person, she may go eww gross but to turn and hide in my shirt is something I highly doubt.”
“Ya never know.” She always tried to be positive. “Okay so ‘Princess Bride’ and ‘Final Destination’.”
“I don’t know ‘Princess Bride’ sounds like a chick flick.” I said concerned. I really didn’t want to watch a chick flick.
“Would I do that to you Nicky?” She said with an angelic smile.
“Yes you would.” I said.
“Yeah well ya know. But trust me I wouldn’t lie to you.” She’s right, she wouldn’t lie to me.
*Rachel’s View*
I was really excited to be hanging out with Nick again. I had missed him and AJ of course. AJ’s smile and those puppy dog brown eyes of his. I was shook from my thought by Nick.
“Rach, do you think that we should stop by the store and get some snacks?” Nick asked.
“That wouldn’t be a bad idea.” It really wasn’t a bad idea at all. “We’ll go do that on our way back.” It was just that getting back to AJ meant being nervous and not talking. Meaning not being me and being all girlie and giggly. We rented the movies then got back in the jeep. I could tell that Nick really did like my jeep. So did I, I loved this jeep, it was my baby. Too bad AJ wasn’t my baby any more. Yes I think about him a lot. He’s not the type of person that you can just forget. So we pull into the parking lot to a gas station and Nick and I walk in for search of food. We got some chips and some drinks. Now we’re back at the house. “Hey guys! We have returned from the great beyond known has the video store.”
“That was really cheesy.” So’Cy mentioned. But she was right, it really was cheesy.
“What movies did you guys rent?” Mary questioned.
“We’ve got ‘Princess Bride’ and ‘Final Destination’.” I said as I placed down my keys and the bag with the food in it.
“’Princess Bride’ sounds like a chick flick to me.” AJ joked.
“Hey it’s really funny.” Mary joked back.
“You’re just saying that because you’re a chick.” There’s goes AJ using the word chick again. Mary stuck her tongue out at AJ.
“Now now you two. Behave.” There goes Howie, always trying to keep the peace.
“So we’ll watch the ‘chick flick’ first and then ‘Final Destination’. Does that sounds good?” I really just wanted to sit down and enjoy the films. So Mary grabbed ‘Princess Bride’ and put it in. I sat down on the empty couch that no one was on. So’Cy and Howie were on the love seat and AJ and Mary was sitting on the floor when we came in. “Ya know guys, there is a couch that somebody could have sat on.”
“Oh, but couches are for losers.” Mary said as she turned back around and sat on the couch at the opposite end from me.
“So you’re a loser now since your sitting on the couch now.” I tried to be smart with her but she knew I was joking.
“Not any more, all of a sudden couches are for winners.” Mary said with a smile on her face. Nick then joined Mary and me on the couch. I guess Nick thought that couches only fit 3 people because there was no room for AJ. But AJ came over and sat on my lap. Let me tell you that I didn’t mind it at all.
“AJ, don’t hurt that girl” Howie said.
“She’ll be okay.” He said with a smile on his face.
“Here AJ, I’ll move over so you can sit right next to Rach and she can see the TV.” Nick is so sweet. But I really didn’t mind AJ on my lap but I really wanted to see the movie. Ya see my problem? So AJ moved over and once we were through the previews we were laughing at the movie already.
