The Land from Exodus (Northwest of Tabuk)

Beautiful Scenery

Tabuk is a small farming community in  the northwest corner of Saudi Arabia.  It tends to be rural and dusty.  However, the land northwest of it is believed by some to be the area traveled through during the Exodus of the Israelites.  The Saudi Arabian governmnet has fenced off many archeological sites in the area.  The highest mountain in the region, Jabal Al-Lawz, is the most probable contender for the real Mt. Sinai.  Irrespective of the truth in these claims, the area is one of desolate beauty, inhabited mainly by Bedouins.  Unfortunately, they prefer not to be photographed, but they certainly didn't mind us taking pictures of there exquisite scenery.

Ooooh! Aaaah!

Even the butcher shops in Saudi Arabia are a little different from what Americans are used to.

In the background of this picture, you can see Jabal Al Lawz, or the real Mt. Sinai.  In the foreground you can see a guard shack and a fence closing off the area as an archeological site.  Click on the picture to see more about the land of Exodus. and Mt. Sinai.

The area is full of interesting rock designs.  In the foreground, you can see a bedouin camp.

Could water have flowed from this rock?

A cloudy day in the kingdom serves to soften the beauty of the scenery.
